Comments were mostly jeering at the miserly amounts given away and the fact that those are standard banner pulls. When the news broke that it's now given to all players the first comment under it said "they knelt down in apology but they still stuck with the bloody standard pulls." Others either agree or thought that Kuro did this on purpose to draw attention + made it look as if they listened to feedback. One commenter noted that the apology was issued on 2230 and , insinuating this was planned. Notably Gamersky at the point of writing had no posts on the earlier fiasco.

Tw for self-harm and suicide

Feels weird finally sharing this but I do credit xisuma for saving my life, and I thought I’d share this if anyone’s in a similar situation or simply wants to hear my story. I’m not going to go overly into what happened that night because it still hurts, but in short I’d tried to overdose on medication but threw it up so I’d decided i was going to take my bike and go over to the bridge near where I live over some train tracks but had decided to check my phone for whatever reason,

Got a recommended video from xisumasays titled “suicide and self-harm” he’d posted about four years ago since I was watching some of the videos on the channel at the time. Thought “why not I literally don’t have anything to lose at this point”

That completely changed my view on life, knowing that he had similar experiences to me and he’d not only overcome his past but become who he was today and found a career path doing exactly what I’d wanted to do with my life just sort of pulled me out of that state that night and gave me some kinda hope.

Anyways I’m about two weeks self-harm clean again today i know xisuma doesn’t use Reddit much but if you see this, thank you for sharing your experience xisuma. I genuinely don’t think I would have seen today if you never posted that, I’ve been thinking about opening up about this for a while and know it isn’t easy and I really admire you for being able to share that <3

She was already one of the best builders on the server, not to mention her being the creator of basically every public service on hermitcraft, having some pretty amazing PvP skills and being the queen of decked out 2 . Now she is mastering redstone and has already done some super impressive stuff. (check out her newest episode where she makes working wordle with redstone)

Tomorrow (June 12th) we'll get an event centered around Reinhardt, a very busted, exclusive (limited in AS) DPS unit, along with her rerun (lasts 3 weeks). We're getting 10 free pulls in her banner. It's highly advisable to pull her (+1 dupe) and/or start grinding for that pull currency for the upcoming anniversary unit and collab units.

"What will happen during anniversary?"

The anniversary will feature 2 new 6-star units, one is a exclusive female unit while the other is a (non)limited male unit. It might also feature a welfare 5-star unit..

We'll get 50 summons in mainstay banner and 20 summons in the exclusive banner + freebies we usually get from events.

"What is Alchemy Stars?"

AS is a turn-based RPG with color-matching puzzle-like combat.

The game has 4 classes split into:

Detonators and Snipers (DPS classes);

Converters (a Mobility class);

and Supporters.

It might look like you need to rely on RNG to win at first, but that's where Converters come in. They allow you to teleport or straight up pave the away with a specific color, so you have a degree of control over the board and how/when you deal (or take) big damage.

The team leader can normal attack when walking over any tile color, while the rest of the team only normal attacks when walking over their corresponding element or sub-element color. At the end of your move, if you walk over enough tiles, your team will cast their Chain Skills to deal even more damage.

2x DPS and 2x Converters of the same element is the core optimal team, with the 5th slot being flexible to whatever class you want or need, plus some units can perform more than one role, like: a Converter that's a reliable DPS; a Detonator that can teleport; a Supporter that also converts; the list goes on.

I came across the curious mod "FPS optimizer" in someone's list of performance mods. The mod looked fishy to me, so I decompiled it with Vineflower and poked around the code, and given that the mod has over 300,000 downloads and is in a lot of modpacks, I thought people should know that it is totally fake. It is not malicious-fake, it's not a virus, it's just an MCreator mod that won't help your framerate.

This mod provides .

• disable entities (for creative)

  • Turning it on runs /gamerule doMobSpawning false and /kil @e[type=!player].

  • Not a typo. It runs /kil.

  • Turning it off runs /gamerule doMobSpawning true.

• Enable Slow Tick

  • Turning it on runs /gamerule randomTickSpeed 10.

  • Turning it off runs /gamerule randomTickSpeed 20.

  • Random ticks are not a major cause of lag and the default random tick speed is 3.

  • I think the author confused "random ticks" for "ticks".

• Reload Chuck

  • Turning it on runs /reload, which reloads datapacks (not chunks), and sends a message in chat telling you to press F3+T (because it's an mcreator mod and it can't call that function itself lol)

  • Handy to have a /reload shortcut? Sure, in some cases. Does it help FPS? No.

  • Turning it off does nothing.

• Optimise IA

  • Turning it on does nothing.

  • Turning it off does nothing.

Yes, "Optimise IA" is completely bullshit. Bad news for fans of optimizing their IA, whatever that is.

Also, if you're at the point where removing all mob spawning is a reasonable solution to your FPS problems, you certainly don't need a mod to make a button for it. Just run the command yourself :)

References: in the latest 1.20.4 NeoForge version of the mod, GUIFpsScreen contains the code for initializing the buttons (and the lack-of-code for the Optimize IA buttons). If you look at the x and y coordinates all the "on" buttons are registered first, then all the "off" buttons. Clicking the buttons that do work sends a packet with an int parameter in {0, 1, 2, 4, 5}, and those are handled in GUIFpsButtonAction which delegates into some mcreator procedures, each procedure just runs commands.

FPS Boost

One of the author's other mods, "FPS Boost", is similar. This one is kindof scummy because look at the url: it's namesquatting the legitimate BetterFPS mod from back in the day. The mod also has over 300,000 downloads.

This mod provides a settings screen with 6 buttons.

• Optimize Chunck FPS

  • If enabled, /gamerule randomTickSpeed 1 is executed every single tick.

  • If disabled, /gamerule randomTickSpeed 20 is executed every single tick.

  • Again, random ticks are not ticks, so this just affects the speed of crop growth.

• Disable spawn of mobs

  • If enabled, runs /difficulty peaceful every tick.

  • If disabled, runs /difficulty normal every tick.

• Disable weather

  • If enabled, runs /weather clear every tick.

So this is ridiculous, right. There is no reason for this mod to lock your world's difficulty to Peaceful or Normal because it runs commands every single tick. Why does it run /weather clear every tick to clear the weather when there's a perfectly good doWeatherCycle gamerule? What does any of this have to do with FPS?

If you are or are experiencing weird crop growth speed, check for this mod.

References: in the latest Forge 1.20.1 version, the buttons are in SettingsScreen (this time the buttons are registered in row-major order), packets are handled and delegated to mcreator procedures in SettingsButtonMessage, each MCreator procedure sets some stuff in BetterfpsModVariables, which are read by BetterfpsProcedure, which runs every tick.

Discussion

I am wondering how we got to the point where each of these mods has over 300,000 downloads. There is a lot of snake-oil in the performance space, and I think there is a culture of searching curseforge for "fps" and throwing in everything you can find. Something should change.

I'm going to reiterate that (with my cursory glance) I didn't find any malicious code or viruses or whatever.

P.S. - I don't think this is actively malicious or an attempt to scam, honestly it sounds to me like some kid heard about modding Minecraft through MCreator and heard about Sodium and was like "I can do that".
