The Level of Play At Shanghai Is Higher Than Champs 2023, According to Sliggy

“Do you think the level of [play at] Shanghai is lower than Madrid? No, not really. I think it's higher to be honest . . . We were spoiled last year. We had a meta where info sentinel and Skye were really popular. We had teams with perfect info. We were spoiled with Valorant where everyone was doing masterclass calls . . . It was all about minimap watching and mid rounding. Now it’s all about pop flash, send it, duels, scrappiness. So right now everyone’s making this mistake: saying it’s sloppier but it’s just the meta. It’s the fact Skye's been nerfed and no one has perfect info. So I think the level [of play] is higher than Champs [2023], I really do. I think it’s a different meta that is scrappier.” - Sliggy on the level of play at Shanghai

VCT Masters Shanghai Playoffs Upper Semifinal 100T v GenG & TH v G2 - 2:51:49

Thoughts on this Sliggy quote? Do you agree or disagree, and why?

EDIT: Sliggy also had this to say during the agent select of Map 2 between PRX and G2.

"The thing is the GENG v FNC game, I've read some of the comments, flaming, saying [the level of play was low], do you know what it is? This new meta where it's less protocols and more pop-flashy leaves viewers completely lost. Everyone thinks this muddy scrappy Valorant is bad Valorant and I see everyone saying "Wow this was such a low level game." I think everyone's so used to Skye being in and having perfect info, [so] everything looked great. Without Skye, there's no perfect info so people are having to gamble or push for information cause we can see the minimap. There's way more hindsight from viewers and people talking about it. With Skye you could figure out where people were. But now? It's so much more gambly. No, this is Valorant without a busted Skye. There are mistakes, don't get me wrong. But its nowhere near the level of what people are saying."

i think its safe to say after twitch rivals that events like MCC, BW, PB are just way more fun and healthier for the community

events where people fight for money just split the community apart and we have streamers at each others necks

and in the end... the games arent even properly tested/are terrible. honestly a shame to the organizers that this happens literally every single twitch rivals

considering the fact that it was 5 days and had long waits, its such a waste of time and way too stressful for the viewers and streamers :/

shoutout mcc and their organizers, atleast they know how to properly run multiple fun events with a less budget

I'm so tired of Tracer

All I know what to do anymore is play Tracer, it's been so long. I don't know what Overwatch is anymore. The other day, I picked a different character and tried to use recall with them. Everything has become Tracer to me. There are no other characters, no skills other than Blink. The only Ultimate i know how to activate is Pulse bomb. Occasionally I use a quick melee, and I cry a little. I Thwack for game but wish I was being gamed instead. It's become a joke of sorts, or maybe it's just my life. I can't go anywhere without seeing Tracer. I went to feed my dog the other night, but instead of eating she flickered in and out of existence while brandishing a pulse pistol. I had to put her down. I sit in the corner now counting down the days, the days where we shall see sweet release from this torment, the day when hero based FPS was about 2 sides counter picking and creating something beautiful. Those days are long gone. I have seen God, and I have seen the devil, but they are one and the same. I stared into the abyss and screamed, and it screamed back: "Cheers love, the cavalry's here".
