The War Within Beta FAQ

When does the beta begin?

It's live! Now! Go play!

Blizzard updates and known issues

From Kaivax (CM) on the forums:

Update 11:00 a.m. PDT June 6

We’ve now completed Beta realm restarts to pick up some fixes.

We’ll continue to monitor and work on further issues.

at 19:48 PDT June 5th:

We’re aware of and working to resolve multiple stability issues in the War Within Beta. We do not expect to deploy fixes until tomorrow.

We’ll let you know when we have some improvements going out to Beta servers tomorrow.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Known issues reported by the community

There have been a lot of reports of non-NA players being unable to copy their characters from retail. I advise creating a template character for now.

For further tips and workarounds offered by the community, see the pinned comment below this post.

Who gets access?

If you bought the Epic Edition then you already have access. If you buy the Epic Edition (or upgrade from Base/Heroic) you will gain immediate access to the beta.

You can opt in to be a beta tester without buying Epic Edition here.

The first wave of beta invites to non-Epic Edition accounts will most likely be for community veterans, press, fansites, and friends and family of Blizzard employees.

More players will be invited to join throughout the test period. This is a random selection process and opting in to the beta via the link above does not guarantee access.

Additionally, later in the testing period, creators, streamers and community figures may be allocated beta keys to gift to their community. These keys do not require you to give out any account information, such as your email or password. If anyone asks for this, they are scamming you.

I bought the Collectors' Edition. Do I get access?

UPDATE

Blizzard has updated its The War Within Collector's Edition listings, informing customers that beta access codes will be emailed to those who purchased it by June 12th.

Updated Collector's Edition Listing:

Guaranteed Beta Access Coming! Customers who have already purchased the World of Warcraft: The War Within 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition will receive a digital code that provides Beta Access. This code will be sent by email on or before Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

This is a change from their previous announcement on Xwitter - a surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.

How will I know if I have access?

If selected to test, you should receive an email, and your Battle.net launcher will have the beta option ready for you.

Please do not click on any links in this email until you have done the following:

  • Opened your Battle.Net launcher, selected WoW and ensured all updates are completed.

  • From the drop-down menu above the 'play' button, select The War Within Beta (listed under In Development).

By the time you receive an email, your account will already have been granted access and this option will be available to you.

If you receive an email granting beta access and do not have the option in the launcher, the email may be a phishing attempt. Please take extra care.

Please note, Public Test Realm (TWW 11.0) is not beta.

Do I need a subscription to play?

You did for the Dragonflight beta so it's fair to assume the same applies here. It's not quite as explicitly stated however, so I'll update with a more certain answer when I know.

Which server do I choose?

The realm ‘These Go To Eleven’ is a separate Beta region that is focused on end-game content and has multiple vendors setup to allow players to quickly and easily test out content, including:

  • Profession Vendors and Trainers

  • Class Set Vendors

  • PvP Gear Vendors

  • Trinket Vendors

This environment is locked to using a max level template only, and players will not be able to access the 11.0 outdoor zones as the focus of this environment is on instanced content (eg. raid, dungeon & pvp content).

Character copy is not available on this realm.

On the realms 'Khadgar' or 'Alleria', you can select the template character option 'The War Within Level-up' to play through content from level 70.

You then have the option of talking to the tauren 'Questzertauren' and skipping to level 78 if you would prefer.

Can I play my character from retail?

You can either create a new character, or use the character copy to import your existing Dragonflight character.

You cannot use character copy on the realm 'This One Goes to Eleven'.

Copied characters will be missing Dragonflight reputations, any flight points, and certain existing achievement progress.

Developer’s note: This is expected for now, and once we get the Warbands data conversion working with character copy, players will need to do another character copy to grab that data and roll it into their Warband data.

It does not look like the character copy feature is working outside NA at the moment

How do I start?

If you're still unsure, Blizzard has put out a guide on getting started with TWW Beta.

Will my progress be saved/Will I be able to pick up where I left off when TWW launches?

No. All progress, achievements, loot drops and XP gained in beta is wiped when the test period ends.

What's available in the beta?

Lots of things, but not all of the things. More information is here.

Will there be story spoilers in the beta?

Yes.

Why is [insert feature here] not working?

Blizzard have acknowledged and are working to address onging stability and connectivity issues.

For most other issues, the answer is... it's beta. You have been given (or have purchased) access to beta content in order to playtest the game and report bugs to Blizzard. Things will be broken and unfinished and buggy, that's what you signed up for.

If you have other technical issues, there are some common technical issue solutions here.
