This is the first time I've seen this. Isn't VCC - positive for chips on BJT, VDD - positive with mosfets, VEE and VSS - negative respectively?

Around Town Installs?

Has anyone accomplished deploying nodes within their town to be used by the general public?

I thought of building a solar powered Rak and asking my local town for permission to install in a park, community center, etc.

Anyone successfully done this? How do you explain this to people?

[Altium] Beware of Altium's offer to switch your Perpetual license to a Time-Limited License!

[Altium] Beware of Altium's offer to switch your Perpetual license to a Time-Limited License!

I think all the Altium Perpetual License holders have now received Altium's letter explaining that there will be no new subscription services for perpetual license.

My letter includes the following offer:

We are offering a special conversion package for you:

  1. Cost-Effective Conversion: Convert to a Term-Based License at the cost of your current subscription, approximately 50% less than the current published annual price for Term-Based Licenses.

  2. 3-Year Price Lock: Have the option to renew the Term-Based Licenses at the same price for two additional years. After this period ends, renewals will be at the current published price.

This initially sounded like a bad deal to me: my fear was that they would change the file format to break backward compatibility, so if I switched over for the next few years I would be unable to open any of my designs made in that period with my existing perpetual license. I could suddenly lose access to my next few years of designs!

Then I realized that it is likely much worse than that. The language in the letter says convert, which makes me believe that your perpetual license goes away and you have only the time-limited license which it has been converted into. So if you want to continue to have access to your designs, even ones made 10 years ago, you are forced into $4,500 annual payments (or whatever they decide to charge, since you can't say no.)

Big yikes!

Will RetroArch for iOS Add 3DS Support Now That We Have an Open-Source 3DS Core?

I've noticed there's an emulator called "Folium" making the rounds. It's a cool proof of concept, but it feels quite unpolished and rushed. Given that we now have an open-source 3DS core ported to iOS, is there any hope for 3DS to be added to RetroArch for iOS?

My dad was my electrician but he passed recently and I need some help with getting my 240v level 2 charger working again

My dad, a licensed electrician, was the one who installed our level 2 charger. I think he did a "custom" job

We live on the East coast (US). I remember my dad distinctly saying last year that if we used the max 40A output for our juicebox, the wiring would get very hot near the breaker. So we set it at 32A.

The problem is that now my juicebox does not charge at all. The 240v outlet which we installed outside does not have any power.

This is what our electrical box looks like

I have no idea what I'm looking at but I circled the two ends of a wire that seems to have burned off the plastic. In fact, when I turn the breaker on and off, the upper half in the black circle shoots some sparks. I turned it all off including the bottom half switch that powers the charger.

Could I ask for some help here and if its as bad as I think it is and I should be lucky my house didn't burn down?

I wanted to share a board of mine, built around the same IC as R4, I made some changes and tried my best to utlised the most of the chip as a lot of pins on the minima are unused, I have written a small description in the comments, let me know if the IC capabilites can be further expanded

Dumb Question - Interlock With 50 Amp Plug

I plan on buying a 12,500 watt generator, 50 amp plug/breaker/interlock kit. We have a 4 ton AC that we'd like to run, in case the power goes out this Summer. We don't really care about much else during the summer (maybe lights at night, or a TV/wifi) so I think that's enough to run it. My question is if the generator breaker is a 50 amp breaker, does that mean if the load I put on the generator hits 50 amps, it will trip the whole thing?

Also, sanity check, but since the generator is putting out 240V to the panel, doesn't that mean I have 12,000 watts to play with?
