I find it weird how, in the absence of a new Astrobot VR game, Sony refuses to port over the first game

I mean ok, so you don't want to make a VR game again, well why not atleast port over the first one?

Sony's behaviour boggles my mind, they don't want to support the headset with first party titles and at the same time flat out refuse to port over older first party titles.

I don't own a PSVR2 btw, and don't intend to given the way Sony are going about things, so I'm looking at this all from the outside in, and I'm baffled to say the least with Sony's behaviour.

And before anyone comes in here and says "well just being able to play Gran Turismo in VR makes the headset worth it so I'm happy" well good for you buddy, but most people won't be content with just one or two first party titles when they've blasted $500+ on a piece of hardware.

Lastly, I've seen arguments where people have tried justifying the lack of first party support from Sony due to lacklustre sales of the device, well, it's SONY'S JOB to convince people to buy their hardware, be it through aggressive pricing, first party AAA titles (last of us etc) and so on, if they can't be bothered they don't have anyone to blame but themselves.

Edit: Some people are saying a port would be difficult due to the game making use of the dualshocks lightbar, well, other studios have ported over games which used the lights on the move controllers and were tracked by the external camera (example: skydance interactive porting over the first saints and sinners game). If a studio which does not have the financial might of a company like Sony can get the job done then so can Sony, so this excuse does not hold as they could make it work with the new VR2 controllers, doesn't have to be dualsense.

What’s with the general bashing within the Sony community for PSVR?

What’s with the general bashing within the Sony community for PSVR?

I understand VR not being for everyone (and some due to health reasons not being able to touch it) but I find it weird people within the general PlayStation community who don’t like VR REALLY not wanting any support for it at all. I was recently going through some comments in regards to Astrobot and the new Alien PSVR game on various Reddit/Facebook comments and the people who do not like VR are “excited Astro is for flat play only” and “pissed/upset Alien is for PSVR only.”

I get that gaming is subjective but I’m always in support for innovation and new tech it’s just lame to see the community itself abhorrently against this amazing piece of tech. Why not just be happy for it at all even if it’s not your particular cup of tea? A lot of us are just happy to get one or two big titles for this thing every once in a while you know?

Horizon Workrooms - Upgrade?!?! No way! This is a DOWNGRADE!!

I just went into the newly released Meta Horizon Workrooms. I've been using it religiously for the last year to meet monthly with my university colleagues. I had planned to use it for my students this fall.

NOT ANY MORE!!

So many of the useful features were stripped out, that while it should be a 3rd or 4th generation upgrade, it feels like a v1.0 release.

We went from 6 or 8 different room layouts to 1.

We went from 6 different external environments (City, Beach, Woods, etc.) to 1.

We used to have a whiteboard we could move to and create content. Now we have ZERO!

Did Meta make a mistake? Did someone go back into the archives and release their 1.0 version when it was supposed to be v4,0?

What’s THAT one game VR needs to explode?

Let’s say hardware is no longer an issue.

What’s that single game VR needs to explode?

I would say It’s a fully fledged, addictive, AAA multiplayer game. Since those are the games that are popular on flatscreen… But it needs to actually take advantage of what VR is capable of, be polished, and be actually ADDICTIVE.

And it should also look GREAT, that will attract more gamers into VR.
