Volvo recalls several MY15-16 models for fuel leak
V40, V40 Cross Country, S60, V60 and XC90 all potentially affected by the condition, which could cause a fire.
Volvo Cars Australia has issued a recall for the 2015 and 2016 model-year V40, V40 Cross Country, S60, V60 and XC90, over concerns about a leaking fuel hose.
UPDATE, 15/01/2019: The ACCC has amended the wording of the recall notice, removing mention of a fire risk. The updated posting reads as follows:
"If the defect occurs there is a risk of a fuel hose leak, the most common symptom being a fuel smell, which may pose a risk of injury to the vehicle occupants and other road users."
According to the Swedish marque: "Affected vehicles may have a leak in the hose on the fuel line. The concern happens due to cracks appearing in the inner layer of the hose in combination with a pressurised system".
If the condition occurs, occupants may smell fuel in the cabin, which could develop into a fuel hose leak and in the worst case, a fire.
VIN lists for the affected model lines are available below:
- Volvo V40 (392 units)
- Volvo V40 Cross Country (160 units)
- Volvo S60 (5 units)
- Volvo V60 (30 units)
- Volvo XC90 (1013 units)
Owners are advised to contact their local Volvo dealer to arrange an appointment to have their fuel line replaced.
