Miles Bridges is balling the fuck out

[–]SupersonicsAmedais 236 points237 points  (1 child)

Finally a worthy sidekick for Cody Martin.

[–]Hornetsmadhatter-87 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hey he's actually been playing his role really great also!

[–]Charlotte Bobcatssv_trader 1226 points1227 points  (33 children)

ish smith has come to deliver us to the promise land

[–]Washington BulletsUnkleseanny 248 points249 points  (1 child)

I’m so freaking happy for him

[–]Tampa Bay RaptorsBee_lrl 41 points42 points  (0 children)

He’s come a loooong way from “is a point guard” thats for sure 🤣

[–][WAS] Gilbert Arenashttr20 106 points107 points  (8 children)

Most underrated handles in the league.

[–]PelicansNola67 84 points85 points  (6 children)

One of the most underrated players in the league. One of my favorites to watch. A downtobuck legend in his own right.

[–][WAS] Gilbert Arenashttr20 40 points41 points  (4 children)

Having watched him the past few seasons, he’s a bit inconsistent imo, but he’s a solid backup that can break ankles on any given night. Plus a great locker room guy.

[–]WizardsGootzMcLaren[🍰] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Accurate, but an absolute spark off the bench.

[–]Lakersimadogg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the best "he can never be a full time starter but he's great to have on your team" guys in recent memory.

[–][NYK] John StarksJust-FYI 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Knicks announcer (and 7x All Star point guard) Clyde Frazier absolutely loves the dude. Some of the things Clyde has pointed out over the years has made me, and probably a lot of Knicks fans, really respect his game.

[–]RaptorsLosLakaFan28 85 points86 points  (4 children)

So serviceable

[–]Spainvictor396 128 points129 points  (3 children)

No matter what may happen, you can always count on him being a point guard

[–]winnebagoman41 61 points62 points  (1 child)

Ish Smith: Is a point guard

[–]Spainvictor396 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well done, Steve Rogers

[–]76erscorporatehuman 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Fuck yeah I've always loved Ish Smith from his process days on the Sixers to all the other teams he's been on, very underrated and hopefully he just found the right situation for him to thrive

[–]Wrsj 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He was all business today. Very impressive!

[–]dadajazz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a Pistons fan, I really enjoyed having Ish on the team. Happy for him!

[–]Charlotte HornetsSpartacas23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–]Degausser89 1394 points1395 points  (32 children)

Ball brothers sitting on top of the East right now.

[–]DontLaughAtMyBeard 869 points870 points  (14 children)

Both balls on top

[–]SupersonicsPoptartJones69 188 points189 points  (8 children)

How did you get the beans above the frank?

[–]LakersDarkKnightCometh 53 points54 points  (2 children)

Just need a small enough frank

[–]Lakersjohnmarston2nd 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Or some stretchy beans

[–]WarriorsBandOfBroskis 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Classic Mary reference. Nice.

[–]wagonwhopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]HornetsfranklegsTV 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[–][SAS] Devin BrownSmellmyhand 128 points129 points  (2 children)

Still hope Liangelo gets called up so I can say the Hornets are balls deep

[–]Trent_Bennett 53 points54 points  (6 children)

That's kinda amazing if u look at things 5 years ago. So called clown dad who promoted so hard his son's game. Now they both key point guards in their respective teams. And what amazes me the most is their doing this with dysfunctional franchises in the last 10 years. Wish them the best, Lonzo for example had worked beautifully to clean up that shot's release

[–]circio 31 points32 points  (2 children)

It's easy to clown on their dad but I'm older and I respect his hustle. He does a lot of shit for his kids, and you can say that it's mostly for himself, but not every dad is going to get two out of three kids into the NBA. LiAngelo could still make it if he works on improving, but it seems like he's helped his sons have a good attitude toward improving.

Anyways, let's do what we can to get Ball in the Family back for a season 7.

[–]whatdoireallyknow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not just into the nba.. both top 3 picks..

[–]WarriorsClearAsNight 18 points19 points  (2 children)

The dad's a clown but the talent and potential have always been there. They weren't drafted top 3 because of their dad's bluster.

[–]Ok-Coast-9264 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You're right LiAngelo is sitting

[–]LakersBBRodriguezonthemoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]Warriorsspandexrecks 44 points45 points  (8 children)

I’ll be honest. I actually watch hornets games now. The squad y’all have is fun. I know LaMelo didn’t have the greatest game today, but between him and miles you know you’re in for some highlights every game. And the announcers are hype

[–]Hornetsgundermifflin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Melo was fine tonight. Just didn’t see the 4th because Ish was cooking.

[–]HornetsNakedMuffinTime 133 points134 points  (10 children)

After the colossal disappointment that is the Carolina Panthers, I'm all in on Hornets and Hurricanes baby.

[–]Netsesskywalker 44 points45 points  (0 children)

If you don't like Sam Darnold you aren't a real Jets fan.

[–]PacersDrak_is_Right 17 points18 points  (7 children)

I wonder what NFL team Clemson fans are for.

[–]HornetsPeachyCoke 38 points39 points  (2 children)

Tampa Bay. Formerly New England.

[–][MIN] Wally Szczerbiakisackjohnson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nah, Clemson is losing, they've pivoted to Georgia for now.

[–]PacersDrak_is_Right 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't regret at all my Clemson hate then if many of them are Brady/Patriot fans.

[–]BullsBatDubb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hunter Renfrow, of course.

[–]Raptorsthefightingmongoose 31 points32 points  (1 child)

I like that team. Ball, Hayward and Bridges is a heck of a core.

I think they could challenge for that 6 seed this year if it all goes well.

[–]Master-Sacker 18 points19 points  (0 children)

With a Kelly Oubre 6MOY campaign let's gooo

Forgot about Scary Terry too

[–]Hornetsa_moniker 757 points758 points  (37 children)

All professional Carolina sports team started their seasons 3 and 0. Now if only the Panthers hasn’t shit the bed after those first 3 games…

[–][CHO] Malik MonkKEMBAtheMETEOR 399 points400 points  (31 children)

Panthers are probably going 4-13 lol

[–]HornetsSmhmyhead5 226 points227 points  (20 children)

You think we’re winning another game?

[–][CHO] Malik MonkKEMBAtheMETEOR 118 points119 points  (15 children)

Our defense is good enough to win games. Even a bad offense can occasionally play alright

[–]HornetsSmhmyhead5 96 points97 points  (7 children)

Idk man, we’re talking about an offense that only scored 3 points against one of the worst defenses in the league, these were supposed to be our easy games

[–][CHO] Malik MonkKEMBAtheMETEOR 46 points47 points  (4 children)

We aren't going to lose 14 straight lol... It's bad but not THAT bad

[–]Goondragon1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes! Come on now. I'm all for realistic expectations to not feel shitty but damn.

[–]HornetsJazzzzzzySax 2 points3 points  (1 child)

As we have the hardest remaining schedule in the league

[–][PHI] Joel EmbiidThatPlayWasAwful 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If they get cmc back for even a short period of time they'll eke out a couple wins despite everything around him

[–]LakersTyleKattarn 27 points28 points  (6 children)

our defense is good enough to win games

Idk man we gave up 25 to the Giants missing two of their best players

[–]KnicksMCzebo33 10 points11 points  (3 children)

2? We didn’t have Saquon, golloday, shephard, or toney today

[–]LakersTyleKattarn 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I didn’t say you were only missing two players, I said two of your best players. Every team is missing players but missing guys like Saquon is a much bigger deal than guys like Golladay.

Either way, not really the point. Even at full strength your offense shouldn’t be able to put that many points on the Panthers D.

[–]Filipitalian1997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or Andrew Thomas and nick gates. Whole O-line and receiving core decimated

[–]Tuckboi69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giants were getting good field position

[–]Mavericksactual_yellow_bag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If cmc comes back.

[–]itsmrlowetoyou 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I’m thinking 6-11 or 7-10

[–][CHO] Malik MonkKEMBAtheMETEOR 10 points11 points  (1 child)

that's what i was expecting coming into the season.

Here's the issue, the schedule was always going to make us look "good" early in the season. All our bad opponents up front, then get hit by a truck in the back nine. The easy part of the Panthers schedule is now behind us. I think we win 1 or 2 games the rest of the way, both of them surprises. I think we probably should've been 5-2 right now, possibly even 6-1 if we even wanted an outside shot at the playoffs.

I think we steal one or two games the rest of the way. I'd be impressed with the progress if we went 7-10 but I don't even want to ruin the tank.

[–]JazzBe-Nice-To-Redditors 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Darnold is my fantasy qb :(

[–]Thunderilovelgs429 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–][GSW] Jason Richardsonsneefomaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]NetsGhosthost13 617 points618 points  (72 children)

Everyone say thank you Michael Jordan

[–]HornetsDizzy_Dare_2353 410 points411 points  (20 children)

Unironically tho. He may have gotten to involved on bball decisions early on, but reviving the history and brand has been amazing. Bringing in Kupchak was genius. And now we have Lamelo Ball and Miles Bridges

[–]Hornetsdeemerritt 308 points309 points  (11 children)

It's a pretty low bar to clear but he's easily the best owner we've ever had.

[–]HornetsKGillie91 51 points52 points  (7 children)

Yea fuck George Shinn. Even moreso for not selling the OG Hornets to MJ when he tried to buy them the first time (pre Wizards MJ).

[–]Charlotte HornetsKilgore_Of_Trout 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Granted I was young, but I can remember George Shinn and his sidekick were the most hated people in Charlotte during their last year here. Like, I’m surprised assaulted them in public here when they went out.

[–]HornetsKGillie91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Allegedly he hasn't been back to in the Metrolina area since then.

[–]Hornetsswanbearpig 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I never heard about mj trying to buy them before. That makes me even more bitter about that sale

[–]MavericksDirkNowitzkisWife 93 points94 points  (1 child)

I love how “bringing an a guy who doesn’t seem like he fits your timeline but is good/all star” seems to be working out so well for y’all, the hawks and Suns. Hayward was a good signing! But it does make me angry and keep wishing the Mavs got lowry, Kemba, Gallo etc

[–]Lakersmsnwong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Plumlee is a good signing as well

[–]Acceptable-Office-17 86 points87 points  (6 children)

The rozier signing turned out way better than anyone anticipated too

[–]KnicksHokageEzio 75 points76 points  (3 children)

Hornets went back to back with signings that got trashed but actually were pretty good between him and Hayward.

[–]Altruistic-Glass-172 33 points34 points  (1 child)

And Celtics maxed kemba ffs. Good job ainge

[–]Bucks Bandwagonmaplesyrupandwaffles 15 points16 points  (0 children)

gotta love the revisionist history on here, lmao

[–]MagicClayTaylor 43 points44 points  (3 children)

And his NASCAR team just won a race

[–]NBAObi_Wan_Benobi 51 points52 points  (2 children)

Nice to see that things are finally going right for that guy.

[–]HornetsFuriousTarts 19 points20 points  (1 child)

It's true. Everytime I see his face on the internet he's crying.

[–]Hornetsswanbearpig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or taking things personally. Very emotional guy can't wait to see what he does when hornets bring home a title

[–][BOS] Marcus SmartItsLittyLitLit 76 points77 points  (46 children)

Thank the Warriors for passing on him for Wiseman

[–][SAS] Beno UdrihLucRichard55 60 points61 points  (1 child)

I’m glad the Hornets are doing well. I really want them to be successful

[–]HornetsMas_Ciello 10 points11 points  (0 children)

thank you

[–]HornetsLaMelonBallz 153 points154 points  (15 children)

Call me crazy but I think Ish is an upgrade over Devonte due to fit. Obvi you would rather have Devonte in the long term but Ish is so fast and a better facilitator. A lot of Devonte's upside comes from the 3 ball. Ish is great at starting the break and is a much better game manager.

Ish+Oubre > Devonte+Malik÷Biyombo

[–]HornetsDizzy_Dare_2353 71 points72 points  (2 children)

You right. Ish gets the ball and just sprints down court. I can't imagine chasing him and Lamelo for 48. I think that's why we've looked so good in 2nd halves

[–]HornetsLaMelonBallz 55 points56 points  (1 child)

This team is built to run. We should be pressing the gas as much as possible.

Although apparently we gotta save some step backs for Cody now 😂

[–][LAL] Shannon BrownAdolescentThug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watching the Hornets actually gives me 7SOL Suns vibes. Y'all do absolutely nothing but fucking zoom man.

Hope y'all make the playoffs and get some great experience for the younger guys, the future is bright as hell in Charlotte.

[–]Hornetspraise_the_hankypank 43 points44 points  (2 children)

I loved Devonte but it seemed like the guy could not make a shot inside the arc and was really passive inside too. Ish is like this headless chickens running circles through everyone and dishing off when drawing in defenders. It’s a fun change up.

[–]HornetsLaMelonBallz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Definitely hahaha. I get the feeling he's a great locker room guy too. This team is exuding chemistry right now.

[–]WarriorsOtherwise_Window 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Ish Smith is a fantastic hustle guy

[–]HornetsWatchTheBoom 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Bizmack Biyombo is a top shelf human being, though.

[–]HornetsLaMelonBallz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have so much love for Biz, it sucks he couldn't put it together

[–]Hornetshandgredave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's the vet presence. Ish just knows how to run an offense better than devonte

[–]Tuckboi69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah and Charlotte has enough shooting

[–]76ersGrampz619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is a point guard after all

[–]remax95 45 points46 points  (3 children)

All it takes is one (1) Lamelo Ball, and you can start 3-0

Why haven't other teams figured this out?

[–]Bullscdioso7191 52 points53 points  (1 child)

[–][CHI] Brian ScalabrineiRombe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Help the Bulls warm up for championship series against the Nuggets.

[–]PacersDrak_is_Right 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i felt people were overly harsh leaving the Hornets completely out of the playoff picture. I have felt starting the season it was 12 deep on who could be an east playoff team, with the Cavs still being a wildcard.

[–][CHI] Taj GibsonRoheed23 247 points248 points  (7 children)

[–][SAS] Malik RoseTA_Account_12 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Big ball energy

[–]gotchab003 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Been a Hornets fan since they were the Bobcats, some 14 or 15 years now. Watched the Raymond Felton, Gerald Wallace, Emeka Okafor and Stephen Jackson team that got to the playoffs for the first time and got swept by Orlando. Watched the lockout team that had the worst winning percentage in history. Watched us lose the lottery for Anthony Davis and end up with MKG. Watched us lose to the Heat in seven only to never get close again.

This is by far the most excited I've been for this team (not that that's a big bar to clear, but still!).

[–]Knicksrmccarthy10 66 points67 points  (2 children)

No denying it...they look real good..they are built smart...they are playing both sides of the ball...they are individually unselfish players..they are young.

Its up to the front office to fuck it up..

Your move MJ

[–]HornetsDizzy_Dare_2353 52 points53 points  (1 child)

Every single player on the roster was acquired by the current GM who is MJ's best friend.... I'm optimistic

[–]GrizzliesYinanization 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Does the East run through Charlotte?

[–]Hornetslillchicken126 11 points12 points  (1 child)

This shocked me to hear, but great start to the season!

[–]HornetsSwag_Turtle 10 points11 points  (1 child)

[–]Thunderwestzod 9 points10 points  (2 children)

[–]Charlotte HornetsKilgore_Of_Trout 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Big 1990’s energy in that statement

[–]WarriorsNew-Arugula-4764 9 points10 points  (2 children)

The're a good, deep and fun team. In the playoff mix.

[–]LK_LK 6 points7 points  (1 child)

[–]HornetsProdTayTay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[–]HornetsImDisruptive 29 points30 points  (1 child)

[–]AnyHowMeow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

[–]HornetsUnklefat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

LET’S FUCKING GO

[–]BucksPerfectSimplePlan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So basically Hornets are winning the championship this year

[–]Aware_Watercress1155 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lets go! This was needs after that abysmal panthers game

[–]Hornetscaptyossarian1991 6 points7 points  (7 children)

I don’t want to get my hopes up on my team irrationally or anything but the East runs through us now. Next stop Finals.

[–]darthminx 5 points6 points  (6 children)

It's important not to overreact, but clearly your team will sweep the playoffs and then be offered a new stadium by the city of Charlotte for free, which will attract every top free agent and turn the Hornets into a juggernaut so dominant the NBA disbands. On to e-sports, LaMelo!

[–]Hornetshandgredave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You know every year there are a couple teams that start hot and then flame out. It's like they don't know they're a bad team to start the season... I hope that's not us!

[–]San Francisco WarriorsFeliksValk 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ish Smith is the greatest player ever

[–][CHO] Kemba Walkermultiple4 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not to overreact but...

We are making the NBA Finals this year fellas.

[–][CHA] Malik Monkchickenheadj 6 points7 points  (1 child)

All the Ish love is warranted but what about Cody Martin? Dude looked like nothing but a 15th man first few seasons and is fuckin crushing it right now.

That 3 in KD’s face and the back to back charges drawn from Harden…Jesus fuck

[–]SupersonicsAmedais 2 points3 points  (0 children)

START CODY MARTIN

[–]Cavaliersryuujinusa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The same team that lost by 60 in preseason. I guess preseason really doesn't matter.

[–]Warriorsfuryousferret 23 points24 points  (2 children)

From someone who has followed an awful team for decades and they finally became 'okay' I definitely feel happy for those fans that stuck it out. There are going to be a bunch of people starting to follow your team, just let it be...its not worth it to gatekeep (even though I get it).

Of course the worst place to be is a fan of a competitor that should win it all and doesn't.

[–]RaptorsDressedSpring1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From someone who has followed an awful team for decades and they finally became 'okay'

Yeah the warriors were okay for a stretch there between 2015-2019, gonna be interesting to see whether that Curry kid pans out or not

[–]BullsTallAssFuker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

3-0 gang

[–]PacersDrak_is_Right 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A far more impressive 3-0 to the Bulls 3-0 start.

[–]Jazzsoftmodsaresoft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–]NetsProfessor_Cinnamon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]monogordo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i know it's a sad one to think about, but this is hugeeee news for us. hype to see what the squad can do this year. I am begging for a 5th seed playoff run, but after the 3-0 start, I'm sliding the bar up to the 4th seed lol

[–]BullsInsaneEcho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bulls Hornets ECF

[–]goodbye9hello10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a casual fan, I'm all aboard the Hornets/Bulls hype train. Both teams are incredibly fun to watch.

[–][BOS] Paul Piercewrongitsleviosaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Miles Bridges is that guy

[–]AngularPenny5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cody Martin draining a step back 3 over KD washed away all my pain from the Panthers game. That was fucking cathartic.
