From gushing 'I love yous' to brutal 'Never talk to me agains', our kids have truly proved over time that they have a way with words.
Whether they're slipped under your door at night, or tucked in their lunch box after school, these notes always seem to pop up, and bring a smile, or a wry chuckle.
Here's every hilarious and sweet time a child's taken to the page to share their true thoughts with their mums and dads...

A neighbour has been left touched by a sweet note they received from a neighbourhood child, who said she "knocked a few times" to ask a question before resorting to leaving a note.
The child, Emma, kindly decided to ask permission to use her neighbour's basketball hoops, not only providing a 'yes' and 'no' option, but also leaving some space for comments, should there be any.
The neighbour responded with enthusiasm at the adorable note, telling Emma, "Absolutely, have fun!", hopefully biding by the child's request to "please put this back in (her) mailbox."
Sometimes all we hope is for our kids to get along, but occasionally they go too far and end up thick as thieves – or at least, fraudsters.
Mum Tati was tipped off to some sibling shenanigans after her son Camren's teacher messaged her about a suspicious note.
The teacher said that the boy had given her a note about a toy he was playing with, allegedly signed by the mum. "I just want to double check that you wrote the note," the teacher said.
"I had no idea about a toy or a note. I did not write that," said the mum, asking for a picture.
The note read: "I'm so sorry that Camren was playing with that toy.
"If he plays with the toy again get La'Niya for her to put it in her backpack," it said, referencing his older sister.
The note was signed with the mum's name (incorrectly spelled) and the date in cursive, clearly trying to resemble a signature.
"My son had his sister write a note for him... then she spelled my name wrong," the mum exasperatedly explained.
"This just took me out!" one commenter said in response to the hilarious attempt.
"She was being a good sister", another defended.
"Teamwork trying to make the dream work," another commented on the sibling bond.
It can be tough work packing a lunch for your children that they'll actually eat.
This dad hit the jackpot when he discovered his son enjoyed peaches.
Or so he thought.
"I thought it was a win!" he wrote on Reddit, explaining he'd hit up the supermarket to stock up on fruit cups for his son.
"Well, the fruit cup came home along with a note for me," he shared a few days after the purchase.
"This kid is going places in life," he added.
"Just not to buy peaches."
It's always exciting when your food delivery finally comes to the door, and for one local their latest order had a special inclusion.
"Found this inside my bag," a Reddit user explained online sharing a photo of an adorable note he found in his bag.
"Can't know for sure, but I imagine this person lets their kid draw up little notes like this for every delivery.
"Either way, it's wholesome."
It seems the delivery driver allowed one of their kids to make a sweet gesture for each order.
"Hi Sammy, We hope you enjoy your bread!" the note reads. "Hope you enjoy everything! Have a great rest of your day! - Your deliverer."

The paper also had a few flowers drawn on the side of it.
The note not only won the heart of the customer, but also thousands of fans online who found it very "sweet".
"The small things that give me that warm fuzzy feeling," one person commented on the post.
Another said, "So cute – made me smile."
However, there were a few people who weren't as impressed.
"Gross! Who wants gross kid finger germs on their food!"
Another wrote, "No thanks, I just want my food. This is weird."
Others thought it was all a ploy on the driver's part to get tips.
"This guy. He knows what he's doing & he's good at it," said one.
"Yep, come on we need tips guys draw a smiley face."
Even Kim Kardashian isn't immune from a little brutally honest feedback from her kids.
The reality star shared a gift she received from her youngest daughter, five-year-old Chicago, for Mother's Day to Instagram.
In the sweet note, titled "All About My Mum", little 'Chi', as Kim refers to her, detailed all her favourite things about her famous mama.
Among them:
"My mum is '22' years old'" – to which Kim responded 'Wow! I feel seen!'
"She is really good at: going to the gym."
"Her favourite food is: salad."
And this absolute banger:
"The best thing she cooks is: 'Mum doesn't cook. She has a chef."
Even Kimmy could see the humour in it, writing "OMG" over the top.
From the mouths of babes.
This child clearly doesn't hold a grudge for too long.
By the time they got to P.S.S they were already back to loving their parents again.
Is there anything that compares to getting a sweet, handwritten birthday wish from your kids?
Well, maybe not so much for this mum, who was instead given a card detailing all the ways her son's misbehaving had benefited her.
Posting the scrawled message to Reddit, the now-adult Tim shared the not-so-heartfelt message, written when he was nine.
"Dear mum," it begins. "After all the trouble I've given you in the past years it has only made you a stronger person."
And ends with the kicker: "You're welcome."
Redditors saw the funny side, praising his gumption.
"I wish I was this savagely articulate at nine," said one person.
"Young Nietzsche," joked another.
While a third said: "I hope you entered politics with these crazy spinning skills."
"This has to be the funniest card i have ever read!" said a fourth. "Priceless"
When a parent found a to-do list their daughter had written for her first sleepover, they were expecting a rundown of cute ideas.
While the majority of the list has all the hallmarks of a top party: bake, pillow fights, hold a fashion show and watch a movie, not all were so innocent.
One item, in particular, caught their attention. Posting a photo of the list to Reddit, the understandably shocked parent wrote: "My daughter is planning her first sleepover. I'm a bit concerned about number two."
The activity? 'Summoning a demon', which delighted many Redditors.
"Why stop at one demon?" joked one.
"No one does sleepover makeovers like a demon lol," said another, while a third quipped: "This sleepover is gonna be LIT."
The photo was also shared on Awkward Family Photo's Instagram page, where it drew even more commentary gold.
"Rookie mistake, you should always eat dinner before summoning a demon," said one person.
"I suspect that number two was code for prank calling boys," said another.
"Frankly, no sleepover is worth attending unless accompanied by at least one denizen of the seventh circle of hell," added one person.
"I think Tori needs a heads up, especially after number two," declared another, referring to the plan to "prank Tori" - perhaps an unsuspecting older sibling.
It's safe to say most kids think anyone aged over 18 is old.
And anyone their parents age? Ancient. So it's no surprise they may be a little off with their guesses if you were to ask them how old they think you are.
But one little boy took an unintentional, and hilariously brutal swipe at his dad when filling out a school worksheet on the people he loved.
While it starts out sweetly, with him saying he loved his dad. When asked how old his dad was, he casually writes down 99.
Sharing the note to Reddit, his dad captioned it: "Thanks son... I'm flattered."
It may not have lifted his dad's self-esteem, but it was a hit on the site, with many Redditors seeing the funny side.
"Father of a five-year-old here: Can confirm all four-year-old's think their parents were born during prohibition," joked a fellow dad.
"I used to work in a primary school while I was at university. I used to ask the children how old they thought I was. They almost always said about 50. I was 19," added another.
Other parents shared their own stories of funny things their kids had written about them.
"Gorgeous, keep it forever. I got a mothers day one of these where my daughter said I was good at doing the dishes, love it," said one.
"My son said my favorite thing to do was clean, and my favorite food was green beans. I did cook them a lot, but only because it was the one vegetable all the kids would eat," added another.
Ah kids, they really know how to get to the point. Brutally so.
Or in the case of one little girl, two points.
Nine presenter Leila McKinnon shared this note from her daughter Gwen to her husband, David Gyngell.
At first glance the 'Love you' at the end may make it seem as if it's a sweet note. But read on a little and you'll see she's set out his goals — reading more like demands. And expects them to be met.
"Dear daddy," it begins. "Your goal for the year is:
1) Talk quiet on the phone.
2) Buy me more things from Sportsgirl. Love u."
Leila saw the funny side, captioning the note, which she shared to her Instagram stories with: "Shut up and pay up."
Few presents can compete with a handmade card from your kids.
But this birthday card was extra memorable, and will no doubt be top of the keepsake pile.
"My six-year-old made a birthday card for her sister at school today. It's supposed to be a Starbucks cup..," the artist's mum shared on a Facebook group.
The mum had been left in hysterics by the ah, phallic drawing (as we're guessing her teacher also was!).
Those on Facebook also had a giggle over her handiwork.
"Is it a hot cocklate," joked one. "Bless her!" added another.
One mum got quite a shock when she opened her daughter's diary, only to find herself declared a 'douchebag'.
Posting a photo of the emotive entry to Reddit, the mum explained how her efforts to get her child to express her feelings had somewhat backfired.
"We've been encouraging our seven-year-old daughter to write out her feelings in her journal when she gets upset instead of having a tantrum," she wrote, alongside the entry.
The note has recently resurfaced where it is again causing hysterics with its adorable misspelling.
"That's some impressive phonetic skills the kid has," said one. "Brutal," declared another.
"Once my son was super mad at me, so he drew up an award that said "#1 S-----T PARENTS" and gave it to me and my partner. Sometimes kids just try to think of the worst thing they can to get a rise out of you. Kinda backfired on him, though, that one went in the scrapbook," added another.
However, some argued the mum shouldn't be snooping in her diary, even if she's only seven.
"How to give your kids trust issues 101," said one.
As the world continues to mourn the death of Queen Elizabeth II, some of her youngest constituents are still adjusting to the post-Elizabethan era.
One 14-year-old girl wrote her mum a hilarious note while she was on a call, asking whether she'd be able to continue using money that has the Queen's face on it.
"I'm going to the shops to buy my milk because I don't like the oat one and other stuff's ok," the note reads.
"But will they still accept the money with the Queen's face on?"
The teen provided her mum with a 'yes' or 'no' to point to as she was on a call.
Reddit users found the note to be both funny and endearing.
"That is so cute. I love it when teens do stuff like this, they're still kids even though they are so grown up," one user wrote.
Sometimes we all need a moment alone, behind closed doors, to compose ourselves, and children are no exception.
A Reddit user who called themselves UseOnceandDestroy27 took to the popular information sharing website this week to upload a note written by a young family member.
"My eight-year-old cousin put this note up on her bedroom door," they wrote alongside an image of the handwritten plea.
"Don't come in without knocking please," it said.
"I might be having a moment."
It has so far drawn more than 1000 comments from Reddit users and tens of thousands of likes.
This youngster gets points for recognising they needed to take some time out, as well as for their excellent manners.
A savage Father's Day card signed 'Louie' has made the rounds on Twitter amassing close to 300,000 likes.
"Found a Father's Day card my brother wrote my dad," the caption read.
"I'm happy mum hasn't left you despite your gut and boobs... Having split parents would suck," the handwritten card reads.
"But never get too confident because it could happen at any moment. Love Louie"
Twitter users were in stitches over the brutally honest card.
"I would be crying if I received this," declared another. "Kids are savage."
"I would disrespectfully put him up for adoption after violating me like that," one user joked.
"Wise beyond his years," another commenter added.
However, it was later revealed that the brother in question was in fact 20-years old-when he wrote this card.
"Sorry about my handwriting. Parents are still together," the now 24-year-old jested.
Father's Day cards can be sweet, loving, funny - and sometimes very, very honest.
Thanks to a simple spelling mistake, this little girl's attempt to tell the truth about her dad had a hilarious result.
Ryan M, from Queensland, shared the Father's Day note his neighbour received from his daughter on Instagram.
We think little Eliza was trying to say she was not a fan of her dad's cooking, but one little letter made all the difference.
"You are a horrible c***," she wrote.
We are sure the dad in question wouldn't have been too offended by the unintentional insult - after all it was followed up with several declarations of love.
He may however try to work on his skills in the kitchen in a bid to avoid a similar mix-up on next year's card.
"So my daughter made my pregnant wife a valentines card!!" an amused dad wrote when sharing this brutally honest missive of love.
He did not say whether he was brave enough to pass the card on to his wife or not. Perhaps waiting until after the soon to be mum-of-two had given would be the best idea in order for her to see the funny side of it.
