Ever since he went nuclear during their bubble run to a title, AD has not been anywhere near the same level player.
Tonight against the Grizzlies was a microcosm of his poor play. He had the emptiest 20 points I’ve seen and he got blocked/out hustled several times in embarrassing fashion
It seems like he lost all of his burst and athleticism which is wild because he’s only 27. Could be a lack of effort as well
AD said this to reporters after team USA’s comeback win over Serbia, sending them to the gold medal game. Steph, LeBron, and Embiid all had excellent games: “Got two words. Stephen Curry. Joel Embiid.”
Now if that ain’t the most Charles Barkley comment ever lmao

New Orleans Pelicans - Official Statement
This past weekend, Anthony Davis' representatives informed us that Anthony does not wish to sign a contract extension with our team and subsequently has requested a trade. Although we are disappointed in this decision our organization's top priority is to bring an NBA championship to our city and fans build our team for long-term success. Relative to specific talks of a trade, we will do this on our timeline. One that make sense for our team and it will not be dictated by those outside of our organization. We have also requested the League to strictly enforce the tampering rules associated with this transaction.

Forget LeBron’s historic game for one second.
This was a MUST win game in terms of standings and Anthony Davis came with absolutely zero intentions of playing tonight.

Lazy and inexcusable performance when we needed it most. Extremely disappointed in him
After returning from injury last year, AD played in 31 of the Lakers’ last 33 regular season games.
He played in the 7v8 play-in game and all 16 of his team’s playoff games.
He’s played in 29 of the Lakers’ 31 regular season games so far this year, and played in the IST Final game.
Total : 78 of the Lakers’ last 82, not counting pre-season.

With an incredible showdown between the Lakers and Bucks taking place tonight, there are many takeaways to be had for both teams. However, the biggest standout of this incredible game is without question Anthony Davis. In tonight's 128-124 2OT win for the Lakers, Davis amassed 34 points, 23 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 2 steals. I don't know if this needs to be said or not, but these numbers are ridiculous. Without LeBron, more of the offensive responsibility fell on Davis than he's usually tasked with, resulting in a below average efficiency outing of 38.7%, hitting 12 of 31 shots. However, Davis was a surprisingly productive 3 point option this game, sinking three triples on 37.5% from deep.
Watching AD play tonight, there wasn't much he couldn't do. His rebounding numbers speak for themselves, but a good handful of those were contested, in some cases by multiple Bucks who had leverage in front of him. Davis is a superb athlete who is excellent at utilizing his build and footing to get advantageous looks for boards and muscle defenders effectively. Davis also had some really impressive passing especially for his standards, hitting a really nice inside assist in a tight window early in the game. From a scoring perspective, Davis' lack of efficiency can be attributed to a heavier workload given LeBron's absence, however he expanded his offensive game to make up for this very well, showing more flashes of soft floaters and 3 point shooting while maintaining the aggressive rim presence that makes him so much of an offensive threat. Defensively, Anthony Davis was as remarkable as he usually is while being unbelievably clutch on the defensive end multiple times. Of Anthony Davis' four blocks, two of them came in the final 20 seconds of the first OT, the second of which was a brilliant help read on a layup that rejected what would've been a game-winning score for the Bucks. Davis has also been phenomenal when it comes to scanning the court on defense and his expert vision was put on full display tonight.
Davis was everything you'd want from a lead option tonight. Versatile offensive game mixed with a willingness to help across the court on defense and coming up big in game-deciding moments. With Davis resting to start the 4th quarter, the Bucks held firm in their commanding lead. Once Davis was brought in, the Lakers went on a 16-2 run that forced a timeout from Doc. Incredible perseverance from this Lakers team tonight in a statement win for multiple of their players.
Anthony Davis is an extremely talented player that's simultaneously a little frustrating. Many have noted before that Davis doesn't always give it 100% in games and I think that's an apparent pattern with him, which is a shame because I genuinely believe that he could put up stat lines like this nearly every night if he really cared to. It's also absurd that he hasn't won a DPOY yet but that deserves its own writeup. My point is that Anthony Davis, to me, has been one of the most talented basketball players in the league for years and I really wish he channeled the full extent of his talent more often because when he does, he is a sight to behold.
