Holy batman does the side cameras sit wider out now haha. To compensate for the wider rear now.

Wow that is really protruding huh. I wonder if that's just a test car thing, as this obviously looks non final in a few ways. Is it possible that it's retracting in the final model, goes out when you start driving?

Appears so. Makes me wonder about the quicker obsolescence of AP3.

Why not put cameras under the side mirrors if they need it out that far?

Looks like they potentially move?

It’s like canards for jets. Hopefully creates additional downforce!

Hope not! Jeez that does not look good.

Wider rear? I’ve seen zero evidence of any dimensional changes in the “refresh.”

Hopefully the US allows cameras for side view mirrors soon. If they did, they might be able to remove the side repeater camera completely since it would be mostly redundant.

I noticed that like a sore thumb. Then I also noticed the really uneven panel gap on the hood above it... Looks like Tesla is back to square 1 all over again.

Has Tesla ever indicated, or anything hinted, that these will be steer by wire?

Toyota's yoke explanation was that they're using steer by wire to dynamically adjust ratios by speed and input, so that you won't have to do hand over hand, which is where not being a wheel may cause annoyance. Would make sense if they both were doing that.

No indication, but I would consider this article/patent applications and the mere existence of the yoke as evidence that they’re moving forward with that. It just makes sense.

A lot of modern cars already have dynamic steering ratios

it would be more than an annoyance, it would be a safety issue to do hand over hand with a non circular steering wheel.

I've yet to see any confirmation of the total rotation range of the yoke. I'm assuming it would be 270 degrees (+/- 135) like race cars.

What's the legality of steer by wire? I know nissan/infiniti is doing it but they're required to keep a steering column.
