This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 76%. (I'm a bot)

Violence In Myanmar Continues As Military Cracks Down On Opposition At least 82 people were killed in the city of Bago on Friday during a military crackdown against opposition.

April 11, 2021.8:40 PM ET. Myanmar security forces have killed more than 700 civilians since the Feb. 1 coup, a human rights group reported over the weekend.

I read “First they took our name, A Rohingya story” and the brutality of the Junta and military members was terrifying and maintained for years. I really wonder if they will have any empathy to the Burmese people?

From what the armed ethnic groups in the Shan State have said, the answer to your question is yes.

They have already attacked a police station and killed 10 police officers. They have said they won't operate outside of the Shan State but that they do support the people and their cause.

I'm glad more people are talking about the Rohingya in this situation. Their plight was ignored and the military was allowed to do as they pleased. The writing was on the wall that they would eventually seize power once they saw how much they could get away with against the Rohingya.

It is a fairly good illustration of "First they came for the Communists" ( https://allpoetry.com/First-They-Came-For-The-Communists )

They came first for various ethnic minorities, nobody cared enough, then...

Is it the same people who stood and watched the Robgingya genocide, and now it’s their turn?

Do you mean "First, They Erased Our Name: a Rohingya speaks" by Habiburahman?

The populace (same people. Don't oppressed now) openly support the rohingya genocide. Hard to have sympathy for such people.

Ah yes, nothing convinces the world to accept your coup like brutally murdering your own civilians. That has always gone well in history.

level 2

They have no reason to particularly care about what "the world" thinks. They may get a few more sanctions, but no global power seems willing to commit to forcibly removing the junta.

Worked well for Assad

level 2

Perhaps not the world, but of some world powers are ok with the coup, it surely helps.

The USA, to give you just an example, had no trouble to accept lots of coups in Central and South America, which were brutally murdering their own civilians.

An interesting fact is that many of those coups were not only accepted, but also fuelled and supported by the USA.

So that has not always, but often, gone well in history.

We will see if there is a price to pay for it this time, but violently cracking down on opposition has helped the military stay (more or less) in power since the 60's in Myanmar.

level 2

It often has. Just go over the border to Thailand that has had a ton of coups. Wasn’t until the fall of the Soviet Union did coups become unacceptable to the Western world.
