Why players quit (From a 300+ hour vet)

I'm gonna keep this brief. I just felt like summarizing everything AGS has done to make the game bad, from most egregious to least.

  1. Nerfs. I don't need to explain this; we are all well aware. Whoever is in charge of balancing clearly does not play the game. Nerfing premium weapons might have been the worst idea possible. Oh and wtf was that mech rocket nerf? Why? It's already terrible why make it worse?

  2. Bile titan armor: Want to fight bugs? Bring anti tank. You have no choice. If you don't then you will be swarmed by bile titans. And no you can't rely on your teammates because the spawns are designed for 4 players. Factory striders have weakpoints that can be beaten by med pen, why doesn't the bile titan? It's lame. I'm sick of bringing EAT/RR/Quesso. Just make the belly weak to medpen it's not hard.

  3. Polar Patriots: A pure disaster. Yes the anti-slow booster is meta on bugs, and I do like the heavy pistol. But the fact that the other weapons suck fantastically, and they nerfed everything else beforehand, really cemented their reputation as "nerf what's fun". What a terrible release, and no snowshoes? On the snow armor? With snow shoe models?

  4. Autocannon/AMR dominance on bots: Make railgun do respectable damage to heatsinks. There we go I've fixed this problem, moving on.

4.5 Rocket devastator rocket spam: This isn't fun. Still want the challenge? Give them a reload time, and make every explosion break a helldivers limb. Whoa! Now the servo armor has a use! This consoltation was free.

5. Headshots on players: Just a terrible idea through and through. There is no reason a player should randomly take significantly more damage than normal. Remove this.

6. Defence missions suck. At first, defend planets were fun. You got to play without any of the poorly designed negative modifiers and it naturally brought players in because of that. Now we have some of the worst mission designs that miss the entire point of the game. No, defending gates from waves of enemies is not fun, it's repetetive, goes on way too long, and ends in an instant if ONE hulk gets through. The civilian extract mission has a literal 0 timer on bot drops. I don't like meatgrinders and the idea of sending civs out into a literal hellscape of bots is immersion breaking. These two mission types should be removed. And the flag raising mission... haha very funny. It's boring.

7. Negative mission modifiers: They suck and make EAGLE strikes better than orbital every single time. The AA strategem is particularly egregious with how unfun it is. Remove it. Add weapon experimentation to higher diff missions so they're at least less repetitive. That one time we all had gas strikes was super fun because I actually saw gas strikes.

8. Stratagem balance: HMG is dogwater, personal shield/laser are impossibly OP. I don't know how to balance those two besides removing them entirely to be honest. The best you guys can do now is add something to improve orbitals because of how dominant eagle strikes are. The 500KG graphic does not match it's grenade tier radius.

And that's it for me. I'm sure there's more but I wanted to focus on the hard hitting points.

Not telling me stuff in the game but via Discord, Reddit and external third party sides is horribly bad.

Seriously, Arrowhead:

  1. The game does not tell me.

  2. You post it on Discord.

  3. I read it on Reddit.

  4. I am pissed now.

And you're constalty doing this. Game mechanics of MOs hidden in Lore texts. No game mechanics told on items (What does this and that Booster do? You're not telling me). The planets have important bases that have a game mecanical effct and you only telling on Discord. The planets are connected by a supply network and you're not telling us.

I want to enjoy the game by playing the game, not going to third party website where people scraped data or talk to people who say "I read something from that or this" or play your shitty "social media fuckery" game where you explain things to less than 5% of the playerbase.

Now my question: What's wrong with all this?

Elk went streaming today after losing MSI Finals:

"I started the stream today, so u guys can directly flame me all u want. Chat moderators no need to ban people today. Since I lost the match, I deserved to get criticized."

What a gigachad. Also the flaming stream is closed by now so no I'm not inviting more people to go harass him. I just think his attitude and willingness to take accountability is admirable.

HD1, big yellow dot on the map.

HD2, where the fuck is it? I go to call one down and see that it's on cool down, which means someone already threw one. Where is it? I'm just FUCKED because you couldn't replicate a dot on the map that the devs who made HD1 could accomplish??

Jesus Christ. This is the stupidest dev team I've ever encountered. Honestly. Like I haven't bought a lot of AAA games in years because EA and Ubi and Activision can suck my not small penis, so I avoided that obvious greedy incompetence.

But this? There isn't even a greedy side to it, it's just the incompetence.

Also the Spear still sucks dick I literally shot 4 rockets during a mission I aimed at over a dozen things with it(fabricators and Gunships and hulks). And one of those shots MISSED. WHAT.

Put dot on map. Show everyone how wrong I am about you(devs) being total buffoons.

Edit: I took my Doctor's advice and went for a walk. Problem is I ended up back at home where Helldivers is. WHAT A SCAM. I log back on and see the yellow dot has STILL not been added yet despite my demands! Disappointed.

They can't keep getting away with this.
