For anyone worried about the fate of their favorite Feral-hosted podcasts, I've put together a list of current shows and links to statements made by their hosts. (Anything listed under "Classics" on feralaudio.com is presumed dead and could disappear without warning. Save them to your hard drive now!)

I’m back to working in an office and going through the back catalog of doughboys to drown people out. What are some episodes from the feral audio era that I should listen to?

I've been checking the site for updates once in a while, and today I think they put up some news. Just posting cos maybe someone is interested, but also because I'm not sure if what they're doing is kinda offputting or not. Anybody wanna tell me how to feel, basically? ;)

also still wondering what happens to some of the shows. that's mostly why I was checking the site recently, hoping to find some sort of summary of where everything will go.

anyway, here's the text if you wanna save a click:

feral audio was the greatest podcast network that will ever exist. it lived on the internet. founded may fourteenth two-thousand and twelve by dustin marshall & stig greve on zero dollars, destroyed january first two-thousand eighteen by dustin marshall on zero dollars.

it went from indie podcast collective to one of the biggest podcast networks in the world. it was a whole thing you had to be there.

after housing and creating the best podcasts for over half a decade with complete independence, all that remains are these super dramatic shirts, hoodies, stickers, tank tops, long sleeves, baseball tees, kids apparel, a baby onesie with an actual cat skull on it, wall art, notebooks, mugs, and pillows.

help fund our next great thing while mourning the greatest podcast network ever.

It's been there for a month... dot dot dot

I frequently go back to the beginning of the podcast and listen from episode 1 because I love it so much. It sucks that other podcasts networks only let you go back so far for free.

I'm sure there are some other Earwolf fans on here. Today they launched Howl, a premium version of their podcasting network that gives you access to a bunch of new podcasts for $5 a month. Sounds cool, but they're also putting everything older than 6 months behind a paywall.

You have to sign up to Howl to listen to anything older than 6 months, and you can only do that through the Howl app, which is currently only available on iOS... You can also listen in browser but there's no download option or even fast forward so you can't return to a podcast you started earlier. It's been a bit of a shitstorm over at , which is normally the friendliest place in the world. I'm hoping things will get better, but I'm not hugely optimistic.

In comparison this just makes Feral Audio look great. I never understood any of the criticism when the Harmontown subscription service started, it's really just giving the fans the option to pay to get some really cool extras (i.e. video). I just wanted to say thanks to Feral for being honest and helpful and for putting out great shows!

Can someone explain what happened in depth?
