This is a subreddit for news and discussion of Old School Renaissance topics. We primarily focus on D&D (LBB, 1st ed. AD&D, etc.) and the retroclones. Other Old School games (Traveller, Runequest, Tunnels & Trolls, et al) are of course open for discussion. This is *not* a place to rant about how (your least favorite edition) sucks! In fact, I hope discussion arises about how later editions do things right, and how to incorporate them into OSR-styled games.
So, funding for the Thracia reboot is going live in a few days. I’m really interested in the module, but have no interest playing either 5e or DCC (the two options it’s being rebooted as) and would rather convert to OSE.
The pledges come with a few different things depending on if you pledge for 5e vs. DCC, but I’m mostly concerned about the main module itself.
We obviously don’t know what these modules will exactly look like, but which version do you guys think would be easier/better to convert to OSE? Any advice is appreciated.
As a side note, I know I can just find the original module online, but I would like to support Goodman Games’ effort to revitalize the module and see what new content they cooked up for the books.
and Dungeon Crawl Classics by Goodman Games joins as July’s Game of the Month!!
We would like to thank for the nomination. Here's a short description of the game, as presented on the back cover:
Glory & Gold Won by Sorcery & Sword
You’re no hero.
You’re an adventurer: a reaver, a cutpurse, a heathen-slayer, a tight-lipped warlock guarding long-dead secrets. You seek gold and glory, winning it with sword and spell, caked in the blood and filth of the weak, the dark, the demons, and the vanquished. There are treasures to be won deep underneath, and you shall have them.
Return to the glory days of fantasy with the Dungeon Crawl Classics Role Playing Game. Adventure as 1974 intended you to, with modern rules grounded in the origins of sword & sorcery. Fast play, cryptic secrets, and a mysterious past await you: turn the page…

So after I read a little bit in Knock #1 today, I thought "This Keep in the Borderlands Module sounds interesting" so I checked out drivethru. But the drivethru product has really bad reviews. the scans WoTC uploaded seem to be pretty bad.
Then I dug a little deeper and found reviews of the Original Adventures Reincarnated versions from Goodman Games. At this point I wanted to buy a PDF and went to the Goodman Games site. But I can't find it anywhere. Not as PDF and neither as physicall product.
I then thought "Well this is probably some OGL BS". Though I read about OAR #7 Dark Tower and . Can somebody explain to me if there are any information about the state and future of the OAR line? It seems new OAR products wil come out eventually. But will OAR #1-6 be available again?

Hey all, I picked up a copy of Goodman Game's revised version of the Into The Borderlands modules, since I wanted everything easily formatted and in one place. Plus the included notes for context of course. I'm planning to run it with DCC, everything seemed fine until I saw how big it was.
Needless to say, I did not realize how gargantuan this book would be. I'm not an old gamer who played through these modules at a prior point in time, and B/X was not my introductory system. The size of it is incredibly daunting.
How do I navigate this behemoth and just run the dang module? I'm solely trying to capture the basic experience for my players in an old-school style game, I don't have the time or desire to parse through all the additional fluff. I'm sure people enjoy that, but for my needs it is entirely useless.

EDIT: Apparently these have been out for some time, I guess this is just a third-party seller advertising them as "releasing" next month.
Assuming that Amazaon is correct, it seems that Goodman Games is releasing reprints of some old Judges Guild modules soon:

Are these out of print?
Is it just me or is it like that for any one else?

Does Goodman Games usually have long processing times for orders? Almost two weeks ago I ordered the basic set for DCC and it's still 'in processing'. I emailed the company and they sent me a copy/paste response about their shipping times.

I'm interested in taking note of all of the Goodman Games DCC modules that provide optional rules. For example, DCC102 contains optional rules for mass combat. I know the Annual provides downtime encounters, and a few different modules contain additional patrons, but I'm not really interested in character options so much as ruleset expansions. I'm basically familiar with the fact that Lankhmar and Dying Earth have some extra rules, but I'm looking more for rules expansions from the main DCC line, if anyone knows of any?

They hesitated yesterday but have announced this today. This probably means no more TSR original adventures reincarnated, but is good for the health of DCC

As the title says. Along the lines of their agreement that brings us Original Adventures Reincarnated could they do a 5e version (with maybe a DCC conversion) of Dark Sun. It doesn't seem like WOTC is interested in this setting. What do you think? Good idea?

Hi! Today is supposedly Dungeon Day at Goodman Games with free DCC and 5e adventures (as per their news section). Can't find it on the website though? Any of you gotten the freebies yet? Thanks!
edit: it is online now

Here we discuss the "sword and sorcery" tradition of fantasy literature, which includes Robert E. Howard, C.L. Moore, Fritz Leiber, Jack Vance, Michael Moorcock, Karl Edward Wagner, David C. Smith, Gary E. Gygax, and many more. “Sword and sorcery” emphasizes active protagonists, supernatural menaces, and preindustrial (mostly ancient and medieval) settings. Sword and sorcery continues to influence visual art, fantasy RPGs, CRPGs, film, comics, music, and much more.
