I feel so bad for the average Russian citizen. And so, so much worse for the average Ukrainian citizen. I hope Putin is deposed or backs down soon for all their sakes, so I applaud this move in the hopes we can get back to normalcy soon.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what humble puts together here. I wonder what we'll see from the bigger publishers in particular. If you haven't seen it and want to get in on the charity action sooner, hit up the itch bundle: https://itch.io/b/1316/bundle-for-ukraine
I haven't had much time to game in the past few days, but Cloud Gardens was a nice start from the 572 games in here. It's open-ended for a puzzle game, but the concept is really solid and plants x urban decay works really well--the levels look so pretty by the end, and I felt kind of proud of my elegant-ish solutions with the nice aesthetic results.
Edit: It looks like Fanatical is putting a charity bundle together for the Ukrainian Red Cross: https://mobile.twitter.com/Fanatical/status/1501576500872728581. I don't think they've done a charity bundle before? Either way, that's cool. Looks like it might be limited to 10,000 sales, though, which based on what itch is doing seems like it'll be gone in a flash.
I got the Itch.io bundle and it's a fantastic value worth getting for a low sum of money. Very eager to see what Humble has in store for their charity bundle, I've noticed their quality pickings has been picking up as of late. Fanatical too.
It is a shame that Non-Putin Russians are suffering for Putin's actions.
What's even a point anymore? They can't buy them anyway. No Visa, no MasterCard, no PayPal. Like, Russians effectively can't buy anything from Steam either, yet I don't remember Valve saying something about it.
I'll keep my opinion: out of all sanctions, video game sales are the least effective, because video game piracy exists and quite popular.
Also, I don't even remember when was the last time I bought a humble bundle. They went to shit many years ago.

There are other payment methods outside of those, like Russian banks.

So, the Russian government taxes video game piracy?
It's not just about stopping people buying games, but stopping the government getting anything to fund their war. Video games are a massive industry and it will definitely help, especially if Steam blocks all transactions too (not just Visa and Mastercard).
