After what feels like a full year after the last news, FromSoftware producer Yasuhiro Kitao has finally given fans an update on the upcoming Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree.
It has been almost a year since Elden Ring turned one year old last February, and the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion was announced. While no information aside from a single photo has been given since then, Producer Yasuhiro Kitao has finally spoken up about the up-and-coming DLC, and although he says it is coming, it will still be “a little while yet.”
The latest update in The Lands Between saw coliseums enter the landscape, and these were treated as dedicated PvP zones where players could test their mettle (and their builds) against one another. This was in last December, and today Yasuhiro Kitao said on the Japanese gaming website GameWatch “It’ll be a little while yet, but progress is going well,” with “I will talk about DLC another time.
It’s still a little ways off, but progress is going well. Like Bloodborne, it has new battles and new characters. Please look forward to new things,” in a loosely translated (Google Translate) statement. While Kitao did say it’s like Bloodborne, fans shouldn’t necessarily think Elden Ring DLC will just be Bloodborne 2.0.
Producer Yasuhiro Kitao only echoed the sentiment made earlier in November by FromSoftware’s parent company, Kadokawa, in their Q2 earnings statement. Kadokawa says, “The release timing of DLC for Elden Ring has not yet been announced,” but also detail, “but development is proceeding smoothly.” While not much else has been announced regarding anything related to The Lands Between, it is at least refreshing to know the DLC is still underway.
Fans should check back for more updates regarding the impending Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, as CGMagazine will cover the developing situation as it occurs.
