Recurrent Ventricular Tachycardia due to Myotonic Dystrophy type II.

If I understand that properly, that's fucking terrifying; basically, at least some of his heart muscles withered away on him.

Heart disease is the number one killer in America by a huge margin. Statistically something like this is the most likely way you're going to die.

noooo :(

Damn, he's been surprisingly prolific lately, pretty much came back into pop culture for the age groups that remember him. Seeing him in AVGN's skit was pretty great.

I don't know how he was as a person, but I enjoyed his work.

RIP

He was gentle, frugal, and soft spoken. Kind hearted as well. His comedic persona was just an expression.

I was just watching that black tiger episode yesterday

I learned the best dirty joke I know from him.

“So there are three guys sleeping in a bed. The next morning the one of the left says ‘I had this wonderful dream that a girl has given me a handjob!’ the guy on the right says, ‘I had that same dream!’ then the middle guy says ‘I had a dream I was skiing!”

Thank you Gilbert. For everything.

You should watch the aristocrats's joke from him. Highly NSFW.

He has a stand up where he says something like (this is about a father molesting his son) "It's crazy that this guy has sex with his son, I can't even get my kid to hold my hand crossing the road!"

Oh man that joke is so made by his delivery and facial expressions. The look of pure joy and innocence on his face with "I was skiing!" is fantastic.

Also in the version he told at George Tekei's roast he then proceeded to explain the joke, which was also great. "You see he was jerking them off!"

If you ever looked up his old SNL stuff you’d hear his real voice

When I saw him perform standup live that was his voice.

The only time I've heard his real voice was when Howard Stern posted a voice mail he left and it was very normal, a bit low.

Voice acting used to be an art form. But it's kind of dying now. They just get random famous people to do it now.

For anyone curious here’s a link to a clip from the Howard Stern show where they compare his “on air” and “off air” voices. It’s night and day.

what a fucking horrible way to learn this.

not dissing OP at all, just kinda sad-laughing that I learned he died from a post remembering him as the parrot from "Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2". Not Aladdin, Kingdom Hearts.

Yeah, OP trying his hardest to relate this to the sub it’s posted on

The post in r/movies does have him as an actor from Aladdin.

To me he will always be THE audio book reader.

I have a strong feeling that Gilbert would absolutely get a kick out of and appreciate the humor in this. Memorializing a lifelong career by boiling it down to "playing the parrot"—but not even the iconic film role, a derivative role in a video game that merely features the parrot. Come on, that is absolutely the type of praise-wrapped-in-a-put-down, good-natured roast material that he would connect with.

At least they referenced his iconic character, just not where it originated from. I too thought it was a weird way to phrase it. I suppose they were trying to keep it r/gaming related.
