Wondering if I'm the only one who feels this way. I understand that laziness is often an issue and that longer responses seem to do better on benchmarks, but GPT-4o in its current form is so chatty that it gets in the way of my prompts.

Things like "do not generate code just yet" will be completely ignored. It takes decisions completely alone in complex scenarios, which isn't a problem in general, but if it happens after I clearly say not to do it, it's annoying.

It often quotes a lot of my incoming code snippets and wastes a lot of tokens. And mind you, I already have settings in place that tell it to "get straight to the point" and "be concise".

Anyone else?

Now that OpenAI removed the Sky voice, the actress who voiced her has lost ongoing royalties or fees that she would have gotten had Scarlett Johannson not started this nonsense.

Given that we now know, thanks to the Washington Post article, that OpenAI never intended to clone Johannson's voice, and that the voice of Sky was not manipulated, that Sky's voice was being used long, long before the OpenAI event, and the , Johannson's accusations seem frivolous and bordering on defamation.

The actress robbed of her once-in-a-lifetime deal, has said that she takes the comparisons to Johannson personally.

This all "feels personal," the voice actress said, "being that it’s just my natural voice and I’ve never been compared to her by the people who do know me closely."

As long as it was merely the public making the comparison, it's fine, because that's life, but Johannson's direct accusation pushed things over the top and caused OpenAI to drop the Sky voice to avoid controversy.

What we have here, is a multi-million dollar actress using her pulpit to torch the career of a regular voice actress, without any proof, other than a tweet of "her" by the CEO of OpenAI, which was obviously a reference to the technology of "her", and not Johannson's voice.

Does anyone actually believe that on the moment when we introduce era-defining technologies, that the most important thing on anyone's mind is Johannson's voice? I mean, what the hell! I'm sure it would have been been a nice cherry on the cake for OpenAI to have Johannson's voice, but it's such a small part of the concept, that it stinks of someone's ego getting so big to think that they're the star of a breakthrough technology.

Johannson's actions have directly led to the loss of a big chunk of someone's livelihood - a deal that would have set up the Sky voice actress for life. There needs to be some justice for this. We can't have rich people just walking over others like this.

You may remember that in January, a lot of voters in New Hampshire got a call that they thought was from the president telling them not to vote in the primary. Of course, this was fake. It was a voice copy of  President Biden made with technology that has become more common in the last few years.

Is this a thing they're rolling out? If so, I hope they reconsider, as it is the only thing CAI has always managed to do better than GPT-4. I have my own rig for LLaMA models, but even the big ones don't compare in terms of sounding natural the way CAI does. Nothing sounds like CAI does.

It will be a devastating loss if CAI's model becomes contaminated with GPTslop training data.

To any devs reading this - please for the love of god, don't do this to us, or your product. What you made is still better than everything else in this one crucial way that keeps us coming back, even when we've "moved on." It will not drive higher engagement or paid subscriptions, and it will only force this unique offering into irrelevance through similarity to existing products.

People associate the CAI brand with natural language, not assistance or logical reasoning, and making the model more like assistance models will not change this. Release a GPT inspired product under a different brand identity if it feels like a relevant business strategy to make.

In my opinion, this is huge and will have a an equally huge effect on p(doom).

I've been waiting for the elements that will represent billionaires in creating a Hunger Games scenario to take action. Project 2025 and Murdoch seemed most likely.

I was convinced that OpenAI was aware of the threat and was committed to keeping those elements at bay. Then (for me) last night, it drops that they are partnering with one of the primary forces of misinformation and distortion of the political and economic perspectives.

Calling them "Premier" just twisted the knife by demonstrating their first distortion of the truth right there in the announcement of their partnership.

This topic needs discussion. And so far none of the "influencers"I listen to are doing it. So, as I said, please refer me to sources willing to discuss this.
