Why is Vanillaware so reluctant to port their games onto systems like PC?

Firstly, if this particular question was already asked here recently, please let me know, but I just how do I put it? Lately I’ve been a bit puzzled that they don’t port their games to Steam.

I mean, don’t get me wrong as I am glad that I own a PS5 so that I can experience games like 13 Sentinels and Unicorn Overlord, but sometimes I feel bad for the PC only users as while I can enjoy such games, I sometimes wish that users over on Steam could also experience them as again I have a hard time understanding why something like Unicorn Overlord won’t come to PC in spite of its gorgeous presentation.

Seriously I have been harping about how I cannot believe no one has redone ogre battle 64 for years now. About how those mechanics have never been properly replicated. About how modern hardware could really smooth out any issues that used to exist. About how it's 2D gorgeous art style would translate so nicely to the world of HD. And how this person who remade it needed to understand if it ain't broke you don't fix it. Honestly I put so many stipulations on it that it was nearly impossible for a developer to live up to my demands. But I'll be damned if vanillaWare didn't do it. It straddles that beautiful border between love letter and copyright infringement. Some of the most tedious or hard to understand mechanics have been smoothed out ever so slightly. The one and only system that didn't carry over that I kind of miss is the chaotic and lawful system. However we'll chalk that up as a necessary evil for streamlining and team building. The first day I played this I actually couldn't believe what was happening. I kept waiting for something to go wrong and it not be like Ogre battle 64. But it just didn't happen. Ironically I said the same thing about Golden ax several years ago. And who produced dragon's crown? that's right VanillaWare. These developers are somehow in my head. I'm certainly not your typical gaming target audience of today so I'm not sure how well that'll serve them LOL. But at least they should know there's one person out there who considers their taste absolutely impeccable. Thank you VanillaWare

Vanillaware PC Alternatives?

I've been wanting to play Unicon Overlord because it's a spiritual successor to the Ogre Battle games, but like all Vanillaware games it isn't available on PC. So I need an alternative.

I'm also looking for alternatives or games similar to these:

  • Odin's Sphere: Story-Heavy Side-Scrolling Beat-em-up/RPG

  • Dragon's Crown: A rougelike RPG Beat-em-up

  • 13 Sentinels: A "Mechs vs Kaiju" RTS with adventure game segments.

Boom, Vanillaware just released OU dlc with all your wishes. What are they?

Loved the game and cant wait for more. Here is my wishlist for a dlc:

  • One new continent, a little bigger than Bastorias or Albion. (Amalia mentions there is more than Fevrith out there, hmmm)

  • Unicorn

  • 1 new Bestral class (Wereunicorn?)

  • 1 new Angel class

  • 1 new Elf class

  • 2 new Human classes

  • A new race with 5 new classes

  • A new game plus, where enemies are maxLv full troops and you keep your characters

  • An endgame roguelike mode to build a single troop of mercenaries, from low lv to max lv to 1 member to 5 members. Kinda like an Express adventure mode.

  • 15 more unique itens

  • More troop slots, infinite if possible

Some design ideas

  • An Armored Caster besides Alcina

  • A class that does melee with Staff

  • Spear angel?

  • Dwarves?

  • Elven cleric?

  • An AoE class that does not simply nuke the enemy

  • A charge based class that does not charge a nuke

  • An assist skill similar to Elven Archer pure field if statuses became more prevalent

  • Maybe create a new promoting for every class, raise max ap/pp to 5 and new lv cap with much more hp to survive all this XD
