It has bugged me since Kingmaker. I really don't like that we don't get a portrait for 99% of the NPCs. Usually when there is a crowd you don't even know who you're talking to, what they look like. It's severely immersion breaking.
Now obviously you'll point out that drawing a portrait for every single NPC would be a monstrous undertaking, but Wasteland 2 solved that issue more than 10 years ago. They should show you a close up of the model of the NPC. It worked well then, and it would work even better now that the models are prettier.
I really hope Owlcat adds that sometimes.

Personally I don't think the trailer quite grasps the vibe of 40k, even if the music does remind me of the fantastic Mechanicus soundtrack.
Either way, Owlcat are a studio with a proven track record so I have high hopes that this will turn out well.

I firmly believe that software developers should not be tracking us without our consent. It is universally agreed upon that data gathered from such tracking can be useful for company decision making but our participation in it should be up to us.
This is a product i love and it pains me deeply that Owlcat proceeds to track me without my permission. I don't want Owlcat to know anything at all about my behavior regarding the product i have purchased from them and depriving me of the choice to participate in said data gathering is unethical.
On a personal note, if this game had AppFlyer or whatever tracking implemented from the start and i knew about it, i would not have purchased it to begin with. My intention is to not purchase any future content for the game or any future games from the company for as long as they track me without permission.

I love Rogue trader, loved Pathfinder. But for the love of the Emperor, the bugs are insane. Once I got to ACT 3 I think, ToyBox was just necessary to deal with all the bugged quests, combat glitches, and just getting stuck in general.
They really should have a tool like ToyBox (albeit a more limited version so you dont get tempted to cheat) in all future games.

I'm sure the 40k game will be great, but I admit I was sad to see the only maker of Pathfinder video games moving on to a different IP.
So I reached out to them via Facebook about it and got the following reply.
Unsure if this means working on content for WotR or if they've grown enough to be able to work on two games at once, but "simultaneously" gives me hope.
Thought I'd share :)

See, one of my issues with both of the earlier Owlcat CRPGs is looting.
Both of those games are heavily linked to pathfinder (Duh) meaning a detailed bag system with weight and everything.
This makes looting, GENUINELY a pain in the freaking ass!
Every time I loot a potion, a scroll, a sword, a suit or armor, I am always reminded
"Ahahahhh, can you really put that in your bag? Maybe you have more important things that need to be there instead"
And it always feels like shit, because I don't want to leave stuff behind.
And it is even worse when you leave an area and the game tells you
"HEY, you could pick these up... but you will be encumbered if you do... just wanted to tease you more"
it is just not fun.
In Rogue Trader?
Go ahead.
Loot everything not nailed down.
Not only do you not have a weight system, but you can put anything you don't want into cargo, no matter where you are!
No more worrying or hesitating.
Heck, you don't even need to worry about a cluttered inventory.
It feels SOO much better.
And alleviates so much of those tiny annoyances that slowly build up.
(Inventory weight systems in games should honestly just go away, unless it is a core part of the game, like managing resources. RPGs where it is just loot? There should not be a limit to what you can take)

This is Reddit's home for Computer Role Playing Games, better known as the CRPG subgenre! CRPGs are characterized by the adaptation of pen-and-paper RPG, or tabletop RPGs, to computers (and later, consoles.) These games tend to focus heavily on role-play and autonomy through the application of a player's chosen attributes and skills. The subgenre has since evolved with its own conventions separate from tabletop RPGs, but at its core, it still draws heavily from the tabletop source material.
I’m currently playing Wasteland 3 after finishing BG3 and on the horizon I want to finally tackle the Owlcat games. I have dabbled in them before but haven’t got more than a couple hours in due to trying to play them on my PlayStation. Now that I have a PC (portable) to play them I want to get into one.
I’ve always thought to play in order and start with Kingmaker (including some QoL mods) because I like the more traditional fantasy setting than the demon/gods focus of WoTR. However, everyone says that WoTR is miles better than Kingmaker and possibly even Rogue Trader.
With Rogue Trader, I think I may enjoy the 40K setting more as it would be pretty fresh for me but I’ve heard the game needs a bit more polish and bug fixes.
For those who are Owlcat game aficionados can you help guide me in the right direction?

Part of the Owlcat team has contacted me saying that they would like to acquire control of and make it their official subreddit. I would like the communities input on this.
Edit: For transparency, I added a Owlcat team member to the moderator list last night. I think it could help both this sub and Owlcat. I still have control and plan to keep an eye on things. If anyone has a issue with said mods actions feel free to message me about it.
Edit 2: I'm going to let the poll run out to give everyone a chance to be heard. At the moment it's looking like I won't be passing over control. I'm hope to get some input from Owlcat games as well.

In this world of games completely broken on release, games without a vision or just downright boring, I thought we were already blessed enough to get BG3 from our dear friends Larian Studios; but you - Owlcat games - have shown us that they are not the exception, that there are many good dev teams still out there willing to work hard for our entertainment & enjoyment.
Thank you...keep doing what you're doing, it's working!

Hey everyone! Hope you're having a good time.
Here at Owlcat Games we continue to work on optimization and performance improvement, and would really appreciate your feedback to identify the most annoying areas and encounters in the game where you experienced FPS drops, freezes and CPU/GPU overheating.
Please, describe your issue in the comments or if someone already described it, upvote the existing comment. THEN please report the issue in-game using ALT+B from the spot where you experience the problem, including a [PerformanceIssue] tag anywhere in the report text.

Hi.
I’d like to hear everyone’s opinion on whether Owlcat Games (Pathfinder Kingmaker and Pathfinder Wrath of the righteous) should consider switching to PF2 for their next game.
For that, I’m compiling a list of pros and cons in both sticking to PF1 and switching to PF2.
I’d like to say my personal opinion is biased as I much prefer PF2, and playing through WotR has made that even more clear. So at least before I compile some more Pro PF1 opinions from the comments, the initial points will be leaning towards PF2.
I will post and update this on , and to keep it fair.
And lastly, let’s keep this civil. It’s very close to an edition war discussion and disagreement is inevitable, but let’s keep it focused on how each edition is better in Computer game format and not at an actual table.
Pros of Sticking to PF1/Cons of switching to PF2:
· The base system is already made, which means less work for the developers.
· The system’s complexity isn’t as much of an issue when the system automates the rules for you.
· PF2’s Skill feats aren’t easily translated into a CRPG.
· The amount of different reactions in PF2 wouldn’t work as well in RTWP as they would in turn based mode. (I personally think this could have workarounds with automatic pause and a prompt message).
· Owlcat Developers Apparently have a stronger grasp on PF1 than PF2.
· Many of the CRPG players find enjoyment in building extremely Min maxed characters and experimenting with builds that will break the game. Which is not something they’ll find as easy to do in PF2.
Pros of Switching to PF2/Cons of sticking with PF1:
· Scaled Cantrips. They’re great in the TTRPG but would be even more so in a CRPG. As you have many encounters per day, a way for spellcasters to have reliable spells that don’t use up spell slots becomes more important.
No more Crossbow of shame.
The scaling cantrips mod for WotR being in the top 3 should be an indicator of how much this is needed.
· The Three action economy is a lot simpler in turn-based mode. In RTWP it’s not as big a deal.
· No Buff spamming. In Kingmaker and WotR, it’s almost expected to fully buff before a fight. Which can be tedious and immersion breaking. PF2 does not require this as the math is tighter and most buffs will not stack with each other.
· Property Runes. A great mechanic in PF2 that I think would translate well to CRPG is being able to move Weapon/Armor traits from one weapon to another via crafting. That way if your character is a Longbow user, but you find a really good Shortbow/Crossbow. You can just put the rune from that weapon into your longbow and carry on.
· No Weapon Focus Feats. These games drop a lot of interesting Specific Magical weapons. And often it’s not ideal to use them because you’ve invested into specializing into one specific type of weapon.
This is important on specific magical weapons that can’t have runes moved.
· Spell resistance isn’t a thing. Using up a high level spell slot to just have it not penetrate spell resistance is awful.
· The Critical Hit Threshold on being able to crit when succeeding by 10+ would translate well into a game where you’re often fighting many lower level enemies.
· No save or suck spells. Most spells have effects even if the enemy passes the save.
· Since the system would need to be rebuilt, it would be a good chance to switch to a system like Unreal instead of Unity.
· Separating Skill by Ancestry, Class, General and Skill means players (especially new players) don’t have these huge lists of feats to go through every time they need to pick a feat. They are more compact and easier to pick from so it’s not as overwhelming.
Items and feats have levels on them. So it’s easier to decide what’s more appropriate for you to be using/picking at your level.
· The Incapacitate Trait makes it so lower level creatures have a harder time inflicting crippling conditions on your characters. And is a much better system against bosses than spell resistance.
· Well defined downtime activities. Owlcat seems to love downtime stuff.
· Martials aren’t as significantly overpowered by casters at higher levels, and no more Rocket tag (although I’m not sure how much of an issue that is in CRPG format).
· Retraining is part of the Core Rules and could have fun story implementation where you need to meet Trainer NPCs to retrain certain aspects of your character.
· No need to make up a Death’s Door Mechanic. The Dying system is already somewhat similar. And also mostly avoids your companions dying constantly from a single critical hit.
Side Note: Having their next game be Starfinder would be awesome as well
Side Note 2: There's also the option that a PF2 game would be better suited to a company like Larian (Divinity OS or Tactical Adventures (Solasta)
