In an update to my story on the IndyCar game: the entirety of the IndyCar dev team has been laid off at Motorsport Games.
We should know more about the game later today, but it's increasingly likely it's dead unless it's sold off.

Motorsports Games (NASCAR Ignition 21, rFactor 2, KartKraft, etc) is a publically traded company, therefore they're required to be 100% open about their earnings. Earlier this week was their 2021 Q4 earnings call... and oh boy.

I feel a little bad for the Studio 397 (rFactor 2) and Black Delta (KartKraft) teams who bought into (and got bought out by) Motorsport Games. Who knows what their future looks like.

NASDAQ indicates today was the earnings announcement date (as required to be shared for any public company, and NASDAQ is quite strict about this).

This is just a few weeks after big news about NASCAR on console...
And to remind you for the last few quarterly reports each time...
As of April 30, 2023 the Company had approximately $4.9 million of available cash on hand. Based on the available cash on hand and the Company’s average monthly net cash burn of approximately $1.9 million, the Company does not believe it has sufficient liquidity to fund its operations for the remainder of 2023.
They did say this multiple times in 2022, but was able to continue to push forward. But as Insider Reports (Mike Straw) reported when Motorsport Network (their previous parent company) was sold, leaving them hanging solo.
Do you think this is the end for Motorsport Games? Did NASCAR pull out from Motorsport Games, even though ex-NASCAR CEO Brian France's investment firm Silver Falcon Capital was a major backer/investor in Motorsport Games? Will Le Mans Ultimate or IndyCar see their public release? What is the future of Studio 397 (rF2 and Le Mans Game devs) or Black Delta (KartKraft and Indycar devs) if the company folds?
