I know, i’m late. But i’m going through all of the classics, and i figured “oh it’s a little older, it’s going to be cheesy” Man, Tina’s death was for real scary. And the follow up of her in the clear body bag being dragged away in the school hallway. Seriously creepy shit. I really enjoyed this one, and forgetting the reputation of the sequels and the remake, it’s obvious why this became such a classic horror movie.

My Bloody Valentine is one of my favorite horror movies (I love the remake too) and one of the top slashers of all time imo, so I am cautiously excited. Anyone here love it too?
Blumhouse hasn't really done anything I've enjoyed recently, but have produced a lot of horror movies I loved. So I am really hoping they don't mess this up.

Comedy horrors are a favourite sub-genre of mine, though I feel like I've seen them all. There's the obvious ones like Evil Dead 2/3, Shaun of the Dead, Tucker and Dale, Gremlins, Cabin in the Woods etc. But also things like What we do in the Shadows (favourite), Black Sheep and Severance.
I'm hoping to get some suggestions of ones I haven't seen. Looking more for the comedy aspect, so while movies like Krampus, Scream, Nightmare on Elm street have some funny moments, they're not really the kind I'm looking for.

I know the 2008 remake of Prom Night tends to fly under the radar, but honestly, Brittany Snow killed it in that movie. I think Donna Keppel may be one of the most sympathetic, and realistic feeling final girls in horror. She’s definitely the best thing about the whole movie and Brittany gave it her absolute all, she deserves more love for it.

We all know Lestat not-so-subtly took out Miss Lily and the priest to take away Louis' support system, as well as trying over and over again to keep him away from his family, but it struck me how Armand did the same thing when he first met Louis, not to mention during their conversation outside the coven manor massacre.
When Armand first meets Louis, his first words are "I will not harm you." He establishes himself immediately as an ally. Someone Louis can trust. He doesn't say "We will not harm you," because he wants to set himself apart from the other Paris vampires. Later on, he hints that the theatre vampires can't be trusted, and they are capable of harming Louis.
Now, we all know Armand has the power to control the theatre vampires, not to mention the fact that he's their leader, but he doesn't tell Louis that. Instead he offers to teach Louis how to control his thoughts and block out other vampires from reading them, further endearing himself to Louis and acting as a protector.
He then tells Louis to never visit Roget, Abert, and Associates again, hoping to block a direct connection back to Lestat.
Finally, Armand manages to plant a seed of doubt about Claudia with this one remark:
"She is particularly skilled at blocking her thoughts."
Now he's laid the groundwork for building mistrust between her and Louis. If she can block her thoughts, what has she been blocking from Louis? What secrets is she keeping?
In those two brief conversations, Armand has managed to make the other vampires in the coven a threat and enemy to Louis, make Claudia untrustworthy, and show that he alone is the only one Louis can trust or turn to.
Like I said: Diabolical.
Gawd, I love this show.

So, a couple years ago I was watching one of those horror movie listicles and when Saw got brought up one person said (about the original movie) that they had friends who objected to it because of the 'torture porn' it depicted. Thinking about it lately, calling any of the Saw series torture porn is a gross oversimplification and just plain inaccurate considering movies like Hostel or Terrifier. Hell, I'd classify the first movie as more psychological horror, and even the rest of the series never goes that far. There are one or two traps that verge into that territory like The Rack, but I consider torture porn to be a different thing entirely; it glorifies the violence it depicts and exults in the gore and bloodshed produced, if that makes sense. But that got me wondering, does anyone else agree with my thought or am I alone on this? What do y'all think?
