Unsafe app! The security risk is this. If smartlock is set the app is unlocked at safe places. But not even at a safe place I want my app to be accessed without a password. An app with such basic design flaws can't be trusted to be safe with other things. I also hate the arrogance of Google forcing the user to set a screen lock. I know the lame excuses for it. But the user always be in control. Always. I'm reverting to my banking app which at least has the basics of a password…

Incredible that you can't just turn it off. Only way to disable the wallet is to go into settings and disable NFC. Great app and easy to use, for sure, but it's absolutely unthinkable that it has to be always active when it's installed and there's no way to just turn it off. Maddening even that the wallet is included in the tiles of the quick settings menu (swipe down from the top) but it's not actually a toggle, just a shortcut.

I hate the new varification feature, that pops up randomly, when on tries to check out. I need to be able to turn it off permanently! The phone, at checkout is never in the right position to take a finger print, and it becomes a lot of struggle with failed payments. Try THAT in front of a long line, in front of the checkout. BTW: when adding documents, like Vax passports, the app does not accept anything over 2 pages.

To provide a more secure and consistent in-store payments experience, Google Wallet now requires on-device authentication before completing a payment, regardless of the amount.
