A friend was sailing the high seas and I noticed Smartypants is now available on pirating platforms. Probably the biggest endorsement you can have that the world is starting to notice.
edit: to be clear I happily pay for dropout.

The last time we talked, they sent me a random fake tutorial video from SungWon Cho, introducing himself as « fixitman78 ». I had no clue why they sent that, and they made a point of not telling me what it was or why they sent it.
I finally saw the game changer episode and was so confused when I saw the ElectroBobbleWobble. Then they mentionned the YouTuber FixItMan78 and it all clicked.
It made the episode very special for me. And I can’t believe my friend is still trolling me from where they are.

Apple Music choosing the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill as the #1 album of all time was obviously a controversial decision, but honestly what wouldn't be a controversial pick? Abbey Road would have people complaining about how the Beatles are super overrated. Ok Computer? TPAB? I can't imagine any album that wouldn't cause a fuss.
What do you think would be a better choice for greatest album of all time? Not your favorite album per se. Or do you think Lauryn Hill is a good choice?
I don’t get it. Lots of people seem to think that Apple Music put this list together by hand, even though they said many times that it was a vote. They asked artists, producers, AM editors and others to carefully put together their own top lists and then they counted them all and the list is what it is. I think that they said somewhere that they had around 300 voters. Zane and Ebro even said that they were surprised themselves to see Lauryn Hill at number one.
I have enjoyed listening to all the shows around the albums to hear what they say about them. My list would have looked completely different, but that’s just part of the fun.
I think that what AM did well here is to ask all voters not to just pick their own favorites, but pick the albums that had a big impact on- and also to not just pick old albums.
This has been a fun and interesting two weeks and friendly debates on what albums we would like to see included is great fun. I don’t see the point in being angry at what the results of hundreds of votes turned out to be.

(By Brian I mean Brian David Gilbert, a.k.a. BDG)
As far as I can tell, these episodes were all filmed in three batches, and we can see who's going to be giving a presentation in future episodes based on who's in the audience. Now I haven't watched episode one since it came out, but I'm pretty sure none of the episodes so far have featured Brian in the audience, which means he's not in any of the three batches, and won't be giving a presentation. I only say this out of a deep sadness, since anyone familiar with Brian's work knows that he's particularly talented in this specific area.
Maybe next time :(

Hear me out..
There are bad movies and then there are BAD movies produced by Netflix. It seems like Netflix is commited to lowering the bar with every new movie. As if "Damsel" & Rebel moon - 1&2 were not abysmal enough, ATLAS is ridiculous and tragically irredeemable.
Without delving too much into premise: JLO is a super-smart scientist with deep hatred for AI but ironically lives in a hyper-fururistic Los Angeles run by....yes ofcourse - AI..!!!
Lopez is quite ordinary and looked like she never set her foot outside of a studio for this one. I feel the visual effect artists are gonna be unjustly blamed for having a hand in what is easily the ugliest looking movie of the year.
Atlas Atlast Eyesore!
…is for them not to spoil what the presentations are about in the intro. It would be so much funnier to go in blind so that we discover the topic at the same time as the audience.
Either way, though, Smartypants has immediately become my favorite Dropout show. It’s so good.

This is the email that was just sent out. Apparently, if you purchase hardware, they can just shut it down on you? We all need to be demanding our money back. This is ridiculous.

when they start reading the rapid fire questions to Augbert (~16:46), their voice isn't quite steady.
normally the planned segments, like the rapid fire, is when they regain control of the situation and therefore seemingly feel more in power, which usually means they ask the question in a cheerful and assertive way, like they are trying to re-establish the tone they want to have for the show. In this episode however, that's not the case, because of how harrowing and strange the situation is. And it's like a very subtle uncanny deliberate out of character moment that really makes the strangeness of the Augbert encounter even more immersive, because it tells the character is a lot more disturbed in their emotional state than normal.
this is good character writing, and it's all improvised. It's like a very small detail but I think it's really cool
33:19 The Try Guys pod this week is answering questions about their new streamer. They chat about how Sam helped them through the process. Was lovely to hear them chat about what a fantastic guy Sam is (like we didn’t already know!)

Recently I had a comedy movie on (15 rating) where I also put subtitles on. In a scene, two characters clinked glasses together. The subtitles said [gl***es clink] (censoring out the 'ass' in glasses).
Today I just put Netflix on and the preview for PainKiller (also 15) played. Not only were the words shit and fuck censored out on the subtitles (e.g. he said 'you're ******* stupid') but the actual words spoken were censored/silenced out.
You could argue it's due to how it's a preview and not the actual movie, but why clip that specific part where there's multiple swears?
I don't understand why they've started doing this. For the record, it's something Amazon Prime is also doing lately.
