This is the email that was just sent out. Apparently, if you purchase hardware, they can just shut it down on you? We all need to be demanding our money back. This is ridiculous.
“We’re switching gears. As of December 9th, 2024, Car Thing will be discontinued, and will stop operating.
While this chapter is closing, we're working on new, innovative ways to enhance your drives in the future.
Thank you for being on this journey with us, safe travels.

when they start reading the rapid fire questions to Augbert (~16:46), their voice isn't quite steady.
normally the planned segments, like the rapid fire, is when they regain control of the situation and therefore seemingly feel more in power, which usually means they ask the question in a cheerful and assertive way, like they are trying to re-establish the tone they want to have for the show. In this episode however, that's not the case, because of how harrowing and strange the situation is. And it's like a very subtle uncanny deliberate out of character moment that really makes the strangeness of the Augbert encounter even more immersive, because it tells the character is a lot more disturbed in their emotional state than normal.
this is good character writing, and it's all improvised. It's like a very small detail but I think it's really cool

Spotify sent an email out to car thing owners indicating they will stop supporting Car Thing as of December 9th 2024
Instead of just ceasing support but allowing the devices to continue to operate they will be disabling them completely
After December 9th, 2024, Car Thing will be discontinued and will no longer be operational.
Their official FAQ recommends recycling the devices
We recommend to factory settings and safely disposing of your device following local electronic waste guidelines. Contact your state or local waste disposal department to determine how to dispose of or recycle Car Thing in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
I never expected Car Thing to be successful, but bricking the device completely and turning it into e-waste is way worse than I would have imagined.

As stated, received this email from Spotify saying car thing will stop working (and according to their FAQ) will be bricked and no longer function. Recommended course of action is to reset to factory settings and dispose of it with no refund option; Explicitly stating they will NOT do anything to remedy. I will be taking this up with support (not expecting much of anything, more so procedure) and am completely takeback by the choice to effectively destroy existing pieces of hardware that take NO maintenance to continue functionality into the future. Amazing.
It makes laugh so hard. It has energy of "Oh shit! It's midnight and I have this presentation for this 100 class in the morning that I didn't start and have no idea what the class is about... Fuck it, here we go".
Hope it gets a 2nd season!

To those of you coming here to get answers about Car Thing, feel free to raise hell and post, but while you are here, please also vote on this old Feature Request. No guarantee it will do anything but better than nothing.

I'm just finishing the last Adventuring Party of FHJY and I feel a familiar sense of emptiness starting to creep over me. It happens to me every season I watch on release, but this time it feels a lot bigger. I've been looking forward to each episode each week and now what else am I going to do/watch to make up for it?
Basically, ss the title says, what I'm asking is what do y'all do when you finish one of the big seasons to curb the sense of ever approaching emptiness that finishing a great story brings about?
If you're a Kimia Behpoornia fan, she's got a good amount of screen time on this week's Abbott Elementary -- I think it's the season finale. Big chaotic energy -- breaking stuff, DJing, dancing! Also, it's just a great episode for taking place mostly in one room. :-)

Took me awhile in the customer service chat, and I had to dig through old emails to find the original receipt, but they refunded $90.05 to my credit card. I bought my Car Thing in 2021, so I was surprised. Not thrilled by the decision or the announcement, but the refund was a good move in my book.
r/DisneyPlus is a subreddit for discussion of Disney's streaming service,
Disney+ used to suggest movies that were like eachother. After you watched a show, it would suggest similar movies or shows. It's always Moana. Just watched a Donald Duck cartoon..how about Moana?? Did you enjoy Peter Pan... suggested Moana. My children watched Moana, and it literally suggested Moana. Driving me nuts.
