Generation X was born, by broadest definition, between 1961 and 1981, the greatest anti-child cycle in modern history. Nevertheless, we grew up to become the world's most devoted parents: the "workhorse of America." This sub welcomes links, photos, graphics, memoirs, commentaries, stories, etc., for and about Gen-Xers, the 13th Generation of Americans. GenX also translates to many other parts of the world.
I never thought Xers would fall into the die-at-your-desk trap, but I here lots of muttering now. Take your damn vacation days. You're not screwing your coworkers; management is by hiring too few folks to cover the PTO that's been promised. They knew what they were doing. Don't you dare feel bad for the boss either. They will lay you off in a second if things slow down without thinking twice about it. There's no loyalty, no pension, no gold watch waiting for us. Use your vacation days, and find ways to slack off the rest of the time too.

As a kid in the 70s and as a teen in the 80s, no one had air conditioning or air conditioners in their houses or their cars. We all just carried on with our lives as usual in the sweltering heat.
These days, I can't even IMAGINE living without air conditioning in the Summer. I honestly don't know how everyone was able to tolerate the heat back then. Were we that much tougher, are people all just a bunch of wimps now?

Pretty much what the title says. I (32f) feel like I’m wasting my life. I’ve done everything “the right way” in life. I have a master’s degree and a decent job. I bought a house. I don’t have college debt. I have dogs. I got married to a kind man (36m). But now… I just feel aimless.
I don’t have money to go on vacation, because even though my husband and I make okay money (not quite 6 figures with our combined income) we have cars that are breaking down, house maintenance to pay for, barely any PTO… it just seems so mundane. I feel like I have hardly anything to look forward to. I try to spend time with my friends, I try to find time to do small things for myself when I can afford it, I have money in savings but I’m paranoid about spending it because my husband just recently got diagnosed with cancer (it was removed and he will be okay), but we haven’t received the medical bills from that yet. We are on the fence about kids but we couldn’t really afford them anyways. Vacations are few and far between for us. I just feel stagnant and like I don’t have a lot of options to move up in life.
I don’t know why I wrote this. I am not trying to complain and I know I am lucky to have the things I do in life. Does anyone else ever feel this way? I just feel like everything is so hard. Im struggling even though from the outside it looks like I’ve got my life together.

Millenials - the generation growing up near 2000 and grown up no later than 2020. If you can't remember bittorrent, wikileaks, George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, or Barack Obama, you're not a millenial. You don't have to remember myspace. Yes, a millenial is a millennial and neither are recognized as a noun, only as an adjective, so both are not even a word.
