Labor and Coalition warned against ?quick fix’ immigration cuts
Farmers have warned the Coalition and Labor against cutting immigration to secure “politically convenient” arrival numbers, saying key parts of the economy needed action to close acute skills shortages.
As Prime Minister Anthony Albanese defended Labor’s plans to cut net overseas migration to about 250,000 arrivals next financial year – including heavy reductions in overseas university enrolments – sectors including health, education, aged care and tourism are also set to lose out.
