Elon Musk confirms his threat: give me 25% of Tesla or you don't get AI and robotics ● "This is bizarre. The CEO of a major public company is publicly threatening to move products he himself claims are critical to Tesla’s success if he doesn’t a greater percentage of the company."

Negative Stars Experience Attempting to Buy a Used Tesla from Tesla

My experience trying to buy a used Tesla from Tesla has been terrible. I cannot overstate how strongly I recommend avoiding this process if you do not live near a delivery center.

We have three paid off vehicles. (LX570, GL450, and an older 'fun' L322 Range Rover that would be replaced by the more efficient Tesla. (We also have five kids and the Tesla would be for a younger/new driver.)

We live in Arkansas and were given two pickup points: Kansas City, MO or Memphis, TN. Tesla advertised a 2021 Model 3 Standard Range Plus with 40,900 miles for $25,000 at their Memphis pickup location. (Zero Transportation Fee and fast pickup). The transaction showed the $4,000 Used EV tax credit applying to the transaction. (We barely qualified during 2023 for the used credit and will not qualify again in the near future for an EV credit)

I received a call from a Tesla advisor the next day saying an Arkansas resident cannot pickup a car in TN and the website should not have offered it as an option. (It must be Kansas City or St. Louis.) My in-laws live near Memphis, hence the reason for that pickup location. They moved the car to Kansas City. I received a text at the end of last week saying that I needed to schedule pickup by the next day or the car was being relisted for sale. I actually drove to Kansas City last Friday to see the car and try to sort out the EV tax credit. (It took 10+ calls but I was able to get a Tesla human on the phone from Tulsa (very nice/helpful employee) and he confirmed the car was in Kansas City.

I drove to Kansas City (~4hrs one way) last Friday to see the car, speak with someone in person, and try to straighten out the ev tax credit. (One delivery advisor via phonee via phone and others via messaging saying they were working to fix it.) The car was at an offsite location in KC and I could not see it. Zero resolution on the EV credit. Rescheduled pickup for today (Wednesday) at 5:00pm. (The latest they would schedule) The Kansas City delivery center experience last Friday was something out of an underdeveloped country. (20 - 30 plus people waiting 2hours+ past their promised delivery appts. It was room full of tired looking / frustrated consumers)

I thought they would resolve the tax credit and loan requiring $551.00 to buy it instead of the what the app now states $4,551.00. That did not happen on Friday. Since Friday there's been zero substantive communication from Tesla, zero resolution, zero confirmation on whether if I show up at Kansas City today I will need to pay $4,551 or the $551 my loan application showed for the $21,000 purchase price.

All that to say, I'm sure they will try to keep my $500 deposit after moving the pickup from Memphis to Kansas City/St. Louis and removing the promised EV Tax Credit.

I cannot fathom trying to service a Tesla in the future or actually needing to get someone on the phone with the ability to resolve an issue.

This is all coming from someone who has owned Tesla stock at various points since 2016 and read Musk's biography. I want to like the company but they've made it very, very difficult. (Ignoring Musk's questionable behavior at times / uneven decision making) There have been excellent individual Tesla employees to deal with when I've actually been able to speak with them. It is obvious there is very little skilled higher level customer service/sales/ business management at Tesla these days. It seems like the people that have stuck around/survived Musk do what he wants rather than what the business needs.

I would recommend any serious institutional Tesla investor attempt to buy a used Tesla. They are trying to achieve quarterly delivery goals but have too few delivery locations, are understaffed/managed at the existing locations, and have created unimaginable/needless friction trying to complete individual transactions.

I'm sure if you lived within 60 minutes of a delivery / service center, have time flexibility, and/or a lot of money it could be a pleasant experience. That is not the case for me.

There's part of me that wants to complain because I feel like they may be doing this to a lot of people partially out of a desire to keep $500 order deposits. Fraud is likely too strong of a word but more of a willful incompetence to collect order deposit fees.

High Mileage 200k+ Tesla’s out there?

Hi everyone, I recently purchased a Model YLR. Regrettably before the 0.99% APR but that’s irrelevant. The question I have is are there high mileage teslas out there? I’m talking 200k+? If so what’s your story? Im curious how the car holds up against mileage like that, if it does. I have a serious commute to work, 110 miles daily, and I want to know what your stories are. What maintenance you had to do? How did the battery hold up? What kind of degradation you’re looking at and the age of the vehicle. Also how the rest of the car holds up.

Let me know!

Thanks all

EToro's Founder States 24% of Tesla Retail Holders Have Voted

https://x.com/ZeroSumBond/status/1793235085342265633

Tesla requires 50%+1 to get the redomicile to Texas approved. Etoro -> any abstain vote counts as no. Etoro's founder came out today and said that 24% of its Retail holders have voted. This is for a web based trading platform, not used by financial advisors.

Good luck to Tesla getting this vote through, explains why they/Elon have been so desperate with advertising on the vote lately. Hell even the compensation vote looks very unlikely based on this. Retail investors just don't vote, as AMC showed (https://www.professorbainbridge.com/professorbainbridgecom/2023/05/amc-apes-retail-investor-rational-apathy-blank-check-preferred-stock-class-voting-and-blasius.html)

Someone poured water near my extension cord and tried to short circuit my Tesla!

I was charging my Tesla on level 1 with an extension cord at a friends house because the wall outlet was a little to far from the side walk, can you believe someone poured what looked like a gallon of water near the end of the extension cord that goes into my car??!! I guess they were watching me plug my car in because not more then 10 minutes later there. was this huge puddle that came out of no where .. guess they were hoping it would trickle down into the cord without me noticing..I quickly unplugged it before anything got wet, I plan on just going to a fast charger that’s near by but what would possess someone to do something like that?? anyone have something like this or similar happen? What’s all the hate for Tesla about ?? I’m freakin pissed dude

Driving down a steep pass in a Tesla?

We (myself and spouse) are considering purchasing a Model Y. It would be our first EV. We have a steep mountain pass that we drive a few times a week in the winter, often in snowy conditions.

Right now we have a Toyota Highlander that has 4 step down-shift capability so we usually drive up the pass in S3 and down in S2 (or S1 in very icy conditions when everyone is inching along).

How does this translate to driving a Tesla up and down a pass? I know the Ioniq5 has paddles by the wheel for regen breaking. What about a Tesla?
