I haven’t dated all the zodiac signs but the best one so far was a Libra man. He went above and beyond to impress me before we dated and even during our relationship he never stopped being romantic. Too bad he wasn’t compatible with my sign. I’m a Cancer ♋️

So, earlier I posted an ‘unpopular opinions’ discussion thread on this sub. I expressed that I believe that tarot readers should refrain from diving too deeply into the feelings and thoughts of people that are not part of the reading. My ass got downvoted. Downvoted real bad. So I took some time to express why I feel this so strongly. I know that there many people who agree with me, but I’m genuinely interested in all of your thoughts.

I believe the practice of tarot reading requires ethical considerations, especially when it involves the private lives and thoughts of others. I am often asked to explore the mutual energy or potential between two individuals or to conduct compatibility spreads. While I am OK with doing these readings, I always encourage clients to reflect on their own desires and needs. This approach helps maintain a balance between gaining insight and fostering personal growth. Navigating these ethical waters can be tricky, and I have to admit that sometimes I've bent my own rules, adjusting my approach based on the specifics of each situation.

As a general rule, I refrain from reading the private thoughts and feelings of people who have not given their consent.

Firstly, I believe that tarot is a tool meant to inspire growth and expansion, rather than to provide definitive answers about an unknowable universe. Offering clear-cut answers, which I fundamentally do not believe in, deprives my clients of the chance to discover their destiny for themselves. This self-discovery process is, in my view, the most powerful form of manifestation. By handing out direct answers, I risk misguiding the client or undermining the transformative journey that tarot can facilitate.

Secondly, questions about another person’s thoughts and feelings often stem from an understandable desire to avoid the pain of rejection, the necessity of open communication, and the vulnerability that comes with expressing one's emotions. These experiences—rejection, communication, and vulnerability—are crucial for spiritual growth, I think. When I provide answers that circumvent these experiences, I feel am inadvertently postponing and limiting my client's spiritual development.

Thirdly, many clients (not all!) who are fixated on another person’s feelings tend to struggle with anxiety. Whether the answers provided are positive or negative, they can reinforce negative attachments and anxieties. By offering such readings, I might inadvertently feed into these unhealthy patterns, which is something I want to avoid. I want to support my clients in finding peace and clarity, not to exacerbate their worries.

Fourthly, consent is a universally accepted ethical standard that should apply to tarot readings as well. If someone hasn’t consented to having their most private feelings read, that boundary should be respected. I am keenly aware that I am not always invited or welcome to probe into every aspect of a person's life.

I know that there are other ways of looking at this dilemma, and I welcome other insights!

TLDR: the ethics of tarot reading demand a delicate balance between providing insight and maintaining respect for personal boundaries. I think that focusing on self-reflection and growth, avoiding the temptation to offer definitive answers, respecting consent, and being mindful of the potential for reinforcing negative patterns, is the best way to uphold the integrity of tarot. And the best way to support the client’s spiritual journey in a meaningful and ethical manner.

Life has been pretty tough to be honest. Some people can go through life never confronting or facing their biggest fears but Scorpio rising is literally forced to. We're thrown to the wolves and have to survive.😩 But it's made me tough asf. I'm also wounded tho. I'm only 31 and have lived such a crazy life and have experienced the darkest sides to life. It always feels like the summer months are just the worst part of the year for me. I’m either dead broke going into the summer and working my ass off the whole summer to make money or something happens during the summer that puts on hold all the plans I had. Always single during the summer for some reason. Starts off ok but ends in disaster. I get so anxious when the summer approaches. Wish I could just skip to October

Full disclosure so you know where I’m coming from: I’m a beginner. And I’m also not a materialist when it comes to tarot. I believe tarot and all forms of divination have the power to access the metaphysical, all manners of spirits, the past, present, and even future. It “can”; definitely not saying it always does.

The title is basically my question. I see that a lot of tarot readers think it’s pretty much unethical to read about another person who’s not present for various reasons. I understand their argument, but has this ethos always been as highly present as it is now?

Also, do you personally agree or disagree with the limitation? I personally disagree. It just seems a bit limiting in the context of a reading. To only be able to speak about me, myself, and I. Frankly, I can do shadow work on my own without going to a reader. I like to believe that tarot is there not only for validation of what I already know about myself, but also to once in a while tell me something I don’t know about a situation. That’s the magic in it for me. Plus, we all talk about individuals in the mundane world without their explicit consent all the time (their mindsets, possible motivations, personalities, etc). Why should this be off limits once we pick up our cards?

Both planets are said to instill a sense of confidence in a person (which can sometimes spill into arrogance or pompousness) but is there a different underlying reason behind that confidence unique to each planet?

As one of the least desirable signs, I have recently thought about the dislikes of us at the core of our personality, regardless of other placements in our charts. Our biggest areas of dislike are our lack of emotion, lack of spontaneous nature and dullness. As a Capricorn who recently went through a drastic change in life, I will point out a few areas that we could all benefit from. Killing the ego is the best thing to happen to a cap, because we have big ones. It humbles us to be more listeners than talkers/know it alls. Once we understand and accept self love, it leads to opening ourselves to our true emotional selves. This in turn helps with communicating with others. This also allows us to breathe freely and focus on some of our adventurous side that every soul possesses.

An honorable mention that isn’t an external dislike, more of a personal growth area is our constant need to fix people or situations. Once we learn to let go of trying to be a fixer, we start to “live” our lives for us, and not others.

None of this will happen, as with all things, unless you (Capricorn) aren’t willing to recognize these attributes if they pertain to you and work on fixing them. It worked for me and I feel like an entirely new person. Still driven, but takes time for myself. Still intelligent, but listens more to the opinions of others than voice what I think they should do. Still mysteriously reserved but know how to open the roof and party like it’s 9999! Still emotionally reserved but will voice my feelings in a way that’s clearly understandable without being aggressive or condescending.

I hope this helps in some form to guide whoever needs to hear this.

With the moon currently in Scorpio, I want to delve into this topic with everyone! In my natal chart, my relationship with Pluto is strained. One major placement I have is Sun square Pluto, and it’s a close orb. My Pluto is also located in my 12th house. Needless to say, my relationship with control, power, and transformation (all themes that pertain to Pluto) hasn’t been easy. I’d find myself seeking to control outcomes, and I lash out when things don’t go my way. With this self awareness I’ve been able to relax a bit more and reassure myself to trust in something bigger than myself. Recently, I took steps towards reclaiming my power by leaving a relationship that didn’t serve me anymore. I’d experience feelings of loneliness but I have the innerstanding that it was the right thing to do, and even though these feelings are intense, I am allowing myself to feel what I got to feel. It’s a complex feeling where I feel anxious about what the future holds for me, yet empowered because I know I’ll be just fine and things will only improve from here? I don’t actually know if it’ll get better, but I have faith that it will. I’m grateful I get to experience this honestly—to let go of my need for control and just trust, trust, trust.

I love lava cake and chocolatey desserts in general but only when I crave it. Lemony desserts r really nice too.

My dog, Riggs, just recently passed, and it was somewhat sudden. I've been a wreck. I asked, "How is Riggs doing? I need to know how you're doing."

And I pulled 3 cards in this order: The Empress, Ace of Wands, and The Fool. I used the "This Might Hurt Deck", but I am open to interpretation from a more Rider-Waite standpoint as well.
