Just discovered this platform. I had a small job that ended due to the floods and I have been scraping by to survive since then.

I've been washing clothes for people and cleaning hotels when there's a chance in exchange for food. I'm in a very bad place.

My friend hosted me for a couple weeks and felt I was becoming a burden so she kicked me out.

As much as it may sound, this is far from a sympathy post. I work hard and will ready go the extra mile when given the opportunity. Life just punched me in the face so bad this time.

I'm badly need any job to keep me afloat. I don't have friends and my parents are in the village and in pretty bad shape financially so I can't ask them for anything.

I'm a brilliant salesperson and used to sell clothes in my previous job. I can also do any other job such as laundry work, cleaning houses, cooking, baby sitting, literally anything except prostitution or anything that borders such.

Thanks.

How's business?

I work for a repair service, we fix Apple computers, we're a small business .. and these past 2 weeks I think we've had around maybe 5 customers come in, and it just feels like it's all of a sudden.. so I'm curious how other smaller businesses have been fairing? Are we an isolated example? I know things are rough everywhere but we've never been completely dead.

Physically demanding job, German lessons, and a dream to escape Zimbabwe - all fueled by caffeine! Will it all be worth it?

Hey fellow Redditors,

I'm a 22-year-old construction worker from Zimbabwe, and my daily routine is a grueling marathon. From 0800 to 1700, I'm on my feet, physically laboring on construction sites. After a quick dinner break, I head to German lessons from 1730 to 1900 - my ticket out of this beautiful but struggling country. My ultimate goal is to secure an Ausbildung (apprenticeship) in Germany and start a new life.

But, the journey is taking a toll on my body. I get home exhausted at 2000, sleep for a few hours, and then wake up at 0100 to squeeze in some reading before the cycle repeats. Caffeine is my trusty sidekick, keeping me awake and alert throughout the day. But, deep down, I know I'm slowly destroying my health. The constant fatigue, the lack of proper rest, and the reliance on caffeine are all red flags.

Here's the catch - I can't leave my job, as it's the only one financing my German lessons and my dream of a new life. I feel stuck between pursuing my aspirations and protecting my well-being.

Redditors, have any of you been in a similar situation? Did you push through and achieve your goals, or did you find a way to balance your aspirations with self-care and well-being? Will it all be worth it in the end, or am I sacrificing too much? Share your experiences and advice, and help me decide if the struggle is worth the potential reward!

Transactional Love in Lusaka

I've observed with shock how popular and normal transactional relationships have become/are becoming in Lusaka. Young women and men are actively looking for people to be with in exchange for monetary gain. Have you also noticed this or maybe it's just an anomaly and my inference is misplaced?

Hard times are not forever

Asc everyone, I just wanted to give a reminder to us all.

If you are someone struggling or going through hardship wallahi it will all work out. Our human minds are very limited & this is something I struggled with a lot… never understood why my plans where not working out despite me thinking this is a good thing

Never understood why the bare minimum for me was hard to achieve.. why simply nothing is working out

Submitting myself to Allah swt was not something I achieved right away.. but I learned through some unfortunate events in my life. It allowed and is still allowing my mind to be at peace.. for me to be calm and collected despite what happens in my life

Gaining a relationship with Allah swt & doing a lot of istiqfar (seeking Allahs forgiveness) puts this lightness within me that truly can be achieved if you just start!!

A mindset that helps me cope a lot is whatever Allah wills will happen & whatever He doesn’t will.. will not happen

It’s a beautiful statement because Allah swt is our protector, our friend, our helper in this world & the next. He hears our secret duas, He sees and witness our tears that drop, our heavy hearts that are heavy bc of the situations we are in

But wallahi billahi key takeaway… as long as you stick with Allah - IT WILL ALL WORK OUT

Tawakuul.. having patience was something Allah swt allowed me to go through & still go through in certain things in my life. I always thought having patience was connected to when things are being facilitated

For ex: you send an application in and have trust it will get answered ->Tawakuul

But truly I learned what it means and wanted to share with you all… trusting Allah swt imo is when your at your lowest. You don’t see the victory in your eyes yet you still push through… why? Because you know eventually Allah swt will help and that is your iman in you!

Trusting Allah imo means a servant who despite EVERYTHING they are doing in their will… nothing works out. They are drained and tired and exhausted yet they don’t give up… don’t let the shaydaan whispers get to them. They connect themselves with the Quran when they are sad and don’t go to sin. They make dua to Allah for help and don’t seek help from others before Him

Tawakuul in a Muslim should be someone who trusts Allah and thinks good of Him. Whatever doesn’t work out they tell themselves “Allah did this for a good reason.. better is to come”… and they don’t give up. Yes days will come where they will be tired, completely out of it, tired of everyone & everything, depressed, frustrated

But… but no bad thoughts of their Lord. They stick with Him and have certainty His promises will come for He states in the Quran

فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ٥

So, surely with hardship comes ease.

إِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًۭا

Surely with ˹that˺ hardship comes ˹more˺ ease.1

Marrying from Western is a sport for the strong

I have a friend who passed on last year from a short 🤒.

The drama that followed was something you see in Oga movies.

He was the sole provider of the family, and the wife was the designated survivor incase of anything.

She was alerted by an uncle, the mother inlaw and sons were coming for her. She quicky used her lawyer to get the death cert, after the funeral she disposed two cars and locked the husband's bank accounts. And moved all the money from saccos to her bank. Created proxy accts and moved money from the husband to those accts.

True to her gut feeling. She got a call from the sacco, on a follow up, that someone had tried to access the husband's account. Same with the bank.

As we were busy going to the funeral. She had a moving company take her things to her new place somewhere in Ruai. to put the nail on the coffin she was told by neighbors that some men had come with a moving truck to her kitengela home two days later and tried to jump over the gate, two of them were her brothers in law.

Because of this family and their greed, not only did she move and I mean she is now a refugee in another country, because the inlaws might kill her. They had used police to track her down, luckily in Feb before they got to her she was in a dif continent.

The plan was to leave this woman bare naked with her kids, like completely, they valued the son's property and not the family.

Best line of action after silent treatment?

So, my man and I had a fight on Friday night. Reason being,  I felt he wasn't giving us enough time (we live 30 mins from each other) and we would only see each other about 5 days in 2 months. At 1st I understood we can’t hang out kwake that often coz his shags relatives are visiting, but,,,they keep coming and increasing in number and never leaving nkajua it was going to get worse...  I complained that we should meet more often ata wakiwa, he got pissed, said I was expecting him to kick them out,  saying I was nagging him, if i want i  should go get myself another man basi mwenye hanipimii time, then he said goodnight and cut off the call. I felt dismissed. Aty go get another man and off the call…. Like really? So I went off on him on whatsapp. He just blocked me, I went off on sms sasa. He didn’t say anything. Baadaye,  I felt that my reaction was exaggerated so I apologized.

Sasa he is giving me the silent treatment,, said that since I went off on him and said some very hurtful things,,, he now needs time to heal but pia nafeel he dismissed me and was arrogant 1st.

My friends are saying I should go apologize again, others feel I should let him decide when to talk to me after he heals (This is something he does often when we fight). Mimi nko tu bored, best line of action ni gani friends?

Do moroccan man like when the girl make the first step?

I saw a man working in a store several times, and every time I went to that store he keep  looking  at me ( in a good way). The last time I was there ,we exchanged looks,  smiles and talked, he was a sweet guy .  I feel like he was interested in me and i think he like me. For me I would love to get to know him , but I don’t know why he didn’t ask me for my phone number or something. Honestly I've been thinking about him  ever since.  I'm thinking of making the first step , starting with friendship . I don't want to miss an opportunity like this, especially since it's difficult to find someone I'm interested in.

  1. Guys do mind if a girl make the first step ?

  2. if no , plz I need some advice on how to do that.

Has private classes in Algeria gone too far ?

Now that the bac is near I begin to notice some random teachers asking students to join their private courses for almost 3k for one lesson ?? Like how is this even something acceptable and how are students fall for it ? especially if it was something like English Or philosophy who in their state of mind would pay that much money for something like English lessons ? it's absolutely ridiculous people need to stop being easy to scam and those fake teachers must have some shame at least To be honest the whole educational system in Algeria must be fixed especially high school because the fact that you have to join private lessons just to get your bac is beyond real because for some reason the teachers when it comes to last year in high school they suddenly become absolutely useless like you can't gain anything from them it's insane when I looked back at my bac year In conclusion I know most of those students who attend those "special privet courses of those internet teachers" are all there just for stupid reasons like standing out but those damn shameless teachers MUST STOOP saying that you must join their courses or else you won't get your degree like who tf do you think you are especially when they call themselves the BeSt tEAchErs in Algeria you are nothing but a bunch of scammers that must be stopped
