Doing it "the hard way" because the end user was annoying

Had a user request a login for a new hire over the weekend. Obviously, this was done Monday AM since my supervisor says only emergencies on off-hours. Two days later, the requestor sends an email saying the never received the user credentials. This is a habit of theirs. Instead of going in to do a password reset to send new credentials, I did a forensic search of their email, and forwarded them a screenshot of the time/date of the message and where it is in their inbox.

EA took away my licenses for games I bought via Steam, and I'm not alone.

EA took away my licenses for games I bought via Steam, and I'm not alone.

LOOK AT THIS FIRST EDIT: I just got Battlefield 5 and titanfall 2 back but Battlefield 1 and 4 still haven't been restored. Even it was a server error or an outage or whatever it was, I still don't like the fact I don't own my games and have to basically rent it out to EA and when they have a problem I don't get to play the games that I bought.

Was playing Battlefield 5 when it said that I no longer had a connection to EA Online, I ALT+F4'ed and tried to load back only to see every single game except Apex Legends suddenly no longer had a license for no reason. The games that didn't have a license were

  • Battlefield 5: Definitive Edition (bought via Steam)

  • Battlefield 4: Premium Edition + Premium Starter Pack DLC (both bought via Steam)

  • Battlefield 1: Revolution (bought via Steam)

  • Titanfall 2: Ultimate Edition (bought via Steam)

Steam still shows as being downloaded and ready to play yet when I try to play it, it says that I no longer have the licenses or that the games were from an alternate account. Just searching up EA Online delisted games on Google, I found 4 forum posts dated less than an hour ago. I know that EA were a bunch of greedy bastards and all that but I didn't expect them to just straight up take my licenses away.

Entry-level jobs should require 0 years of experience. NOT 1 year. Not 2 years. NOT 3-5 years!!!!

Entry-level jobs should require 0 years of experience. NOT 1 year. Not 2 years. NOT 3-5 years!!!!

I believe whats happening to industry right now is extremely demoralizing for anyone who wants to kick start their career. I mean you spend almost 5 years of your life doing everything you are told. Get your degree, do co-ops, make connections etc.

But what no one prepares you for the countless hours that you waste to look for jobs, apply and repeat. Only to get rejected or to get a message from some bot.

And specifically right now, most of the junior and entry level jobs are taken over by AI. If you believe that current economic conditions are the only reason for lack of entry-level positions, I would say that you are mistaken.

Please take care of your hands

I played games non stop for like 6-12 hrs a day for years, it was and still is my happy place.

But in doing so, and never taking breaks or stretching, I now have carpel tunnel and tennis arm

I’ll be stuck with carpel tunnel for the rest of my life, and I have to go to physical therapy.

Destiny 2 day one raid is coming up and I won’t be able to play it. I haven’t been able to play properly since the beginning of this year.

Please be smarter than me, take breaks, have good posture and stretch a bit here and there. Strengthening your arms is also important.

I don’t wish this upon anyone, I miss my hobby

Edit: I posted this as a warning, not for judgement due to my playtimes, I had shit going on and it’s none of anyone’s business why I had the time to play that much. Keep your judgement to yourself

Coworker implied I set him up for failure by solving a problem faster than he did

We're both linux admins on a team of two. We were both recently assigned to a new group of systems we have very little experience with. A developer raised an issue with a plugin on one of the sites they were using and said it wasn't working. Boss assigned it to the coworker.

It's been three months and he's opened tickets with the vendor, troubleshot it himself, did screen shares with the developers and was unable to solve it.

The developer pinged me today and I had some time, so I looked into it. It took me about 2 hours to find the problem and another 2 hours to implement a solution. I update ticket with resolution notes and close it out.

My coworker messages me and asks if it was that simple, why didn't I help him, ect. and seems to be implying that I have been watching him struggle for 3 months while having the solution. While I was aware that he was working on it, I never had the time to ever bother looking into it until today. He is supposed to be very experienced, so I assumed it was just some sort of complex problem if it took him that long to figure it out. I am not sure what to tell him or how to deal with him at this point.

I think I'm done. After 20 years of using Windows

This is ridiculous. What in the world are Microsoft executives thinking with this extreme spyware?

Just imagine: By 2025, the only PC people will be able to buy is this Copliot+ nonsense. Most people won't know about it or change their settings. And the security risk and attack surface of this thing is INSANE. And it won't censor sensitive information? This is a hacker's, law enforcement's, oppressive government's wet dream.

This is fucking outrageous.

I've been thinking about switching to Linux, but now I want to switch as soon as possible.
