Ahava… I don’t understand why people support this brand when they are literally an Israeli company that steals their “clay” from the west bank in Palestinian Territory where Palestinians aren’t allowed to harvest it. Sephora dropped them years ago because of it and I get so mad every time i see one in an Ipsy thing. Btw, I’m 100% Jewish, and you’d be surprised how many of us believe that Israel’s response to the horror perpetrated by Hamas is so out of proportion and wrong that it overshadows Oct 7th and also takes away from the memories of the people who were killed as well as the hostages - so please don’t tell me I’m being antisemitic - but anyway…. If you get em in a box, you get em in a box. But I def wouldn’t choose anything from them (which you didn’t). Since all this came out on 2010 I figured people have 0 knowledge or memory of it so just trying to let people know….

This may be a silly question, but I’m a bit confused on the Hebrew word for love.

I know that אהבה (ahava) means love. But the Duolingo course I’m taking has it as אוהב (ohev). What is the difference between the two?

I recognize that they share a root of אהב, but I’m not sure how to tell when to use one vs the other.

Speaking of roots, I also know that דודי (dodi) means beloved. This doesn’t seem to share the same root as love.

(I know Duolingo isn’t the best for learning, but it gets me motivated to learn and I like exploring the gaps in its teaching)

Actually I’m pretty sure they are not. What I’m scratching my head at is how they haven’t been sued off the internet by now. They claim to be handmade and say they “repurpose” luxury parts and pieces, combining for example, a double G Gucci charm with another chain, to create something new. This would be believable if 1) their pieces were one of a kind and 2) they weren’t selling them for under $150.

Trademark lawyers from Prada, Gucci, Dior etc. should be having a field day with this, no?

And if any of you do cool repurposing legitimately, pls tag your shop. I was pumped when I saw the ad on Instagram bc this concept is my vibe. But when I went to the site my Temu radar went off.

I picked my Hebrew name before things like Reddit were around to ask. I’d love to know how the name is viewed.
