For me, its Tsunematsu Ogawa of Seiko High School. He is a really talented pitcher and his coach also recognized that he has a potential to become pro. His performance against Seido in the Fall tournament Semifinal is terrific although he is immature enough to tackle and injure Miyuki. I don't hate him for that but why I am hating him is that he didn't improve himself even after that performance. I initially thought he will definitely get the Ace number by the summer of his second year but he didn't. And After Seiko loses to Inashiro in the West Tokyo tournament, he told stupid excuses to the captain regarding his practice to which he criticized him that the reason why he didn't get ace number. Do you think he will improve himself after this? Will he become good enough to get the Ace Number? Will he be able to fulfill his coach's expectations? Give me your thoughts. Thank you.

Ace of diamond potential dub?

Anybody else hoping for this? The only reason I have hope is because Netflix picked up kurokos basketball and gave it a dub. I was thinking maybe it could be the same for daiya. I’d love to watch it with people who aren’t that into anime but might be into baseball to corrupt them🤩

I want to preface this with these are complaints only if the mangaka wasn’t sickly.

  1. They shouldn’t have sped through the build up to nationals and nationals. With all the talk of how important it is to the team and school you’d think it would be a huge story point considering Katoaka went to nationals. Would’ve been a great time to showcase his coaching too.

  2. Furuya should’ve had stamina issues until his third year, maybe even until the end. Kids throwing that fast have a tendency to carry those issues for a while if they aren’t working out a ton, even if he is running a lot. (Running doesn’t do much for stamina as much as lifting weights does when it comes to sustaining velocity)

New to anime sports, only Haikyuu & Kuroko. What should I expect from Ace of Diamond?

I just got done watching Haikyuu and it was soo damn good, I loved how the overall story perfectly synchronizes with the main cast, and how natural and great the vibe is with them in general, I loved this anime and very excited for the future of this series.

Kuroko's Basketball was somehow better when it came to some of the matches; I'm a sucker for full battle shounen so Kuroko already ticked a number of my boxes with it's Zone state, and how crazy the matches feel sometimes, It's definitely better than Haikyuu when it came to the insanity of the match, but as an overall, Haikyuu was much more superior with it being a better all around package, I though KB lacked a bit on the characters side.

With those out of the way, I've seen some talks of Ace of Diamond. Specifically mentioning how it fares evenly or perhaps exceeds Haikyuu. This was very interesting to see, so I came here to ask what do you guys think of it , and should I give it a chance?

Anime like Ace of Diamond??

Before I watched Ace of Diamong I always thought Haikyuu was the best sports anime but boy was I wrong. Ace of diamond is amazing and the way everything is executed imo is top notch. From the players to the content of action has me of my feet. It's become my favorite sports anime.

I'm looking for an anime that will give me the same feel.

The ones that come close are Blue Lock, Haikyu and Big windup.

One where the school is actually very good and its competitive. Most sports anime focus on schools that aren't so great and work to become great but I'm looking for something like Ace of Diamond where the environment is super competitive.

Ones that I've watched/watching or reading -Haikyuu -Big windup -Blue lock -Slam dunk -Ahiro no sora -Kuroko No basket -Prince of tennis -Free -Yuri on Ice -Baki (if considered one lol)

Please help me and thank you!

Ace of Diamond anyone?!

I would not be here making this post if I didn’t feel that this series is criminally under represented in the world of sports anime suggestions. In my opinion it nails almost everything that quintessential sports anime can deliver:

-It is the best series Ive watched at informing the viewer of the finer/lesser known points of the sport

-The cast is diverse and makes you love other teams

-The animations is incredible (Act two gets patchy but still fine)

-The hype is as hype as it gets and it is the best sports anime at building tension IMO and it’s not even close

-The comedy actually makes me laugh and I rarely laugh at anime humor.

I could not have cared less about baseball until I watched this and now I’m getting more informed on the game. Binged all 75 episodes of act 1 in 3 days and tore through act 2. Then I went to YouTube and found little to no reactions of the series and I haven’t heard much love in the anime subreddits I follow.

I’m just genuinely confused how such a competent and long running series can fly so under the radar, especially with Haikyuu being so popular.

This series is more than qualified to scratch that Haikyuu itch and I know it’s an unpopular opinion but I think it outperforms Haikyuu in a couple ways.

DISCLAIMER: The first 10 or so episodes, much like many sports series, are not the peak of the series and the show gets better as time goes by. Also, it helps to have at least a surface level understanding of baseball, but it’s definitely not necessary.

Mine was when they were introducing Sakurazawa for the first time, the way such minor characters that you knew would lose to a team that weren’t even the protagonists were given their own motivation, their own ambitions and personalities just showed me how much care went into this anime. No team is irrelevant or just there, which makes it all the more satisfying when Seido win
