I just started listening to the “Infamous” podcast’s episode about JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette, and the host made two glaring errors in the first five minutes.
She said Lee Harvey Oswald went to prison for killing JFK. Oswald was killed by Jack Ruby on live TV. I don’t know how any American who lived through the massive 60th-anniversary coverage last year, or who has had any exposure to pop culture in the last 20 years, could make a mistake like that.
She also said JFK Jr. was 4 when his father died; he actually turned 3 the day of the funeral. That’s an easy fact to find out if you’re doing a podcast about someone’s life.
I’m not sure if I’ve ever listened to Infamous before, but I don’t think I want to finish the episode because if it’s wrong about these two basic facts, I don’t trust anything else they say.
Has anyone ever listened to Infamous? Is it always this sloppily presented?
I listened to S-Town. I’ve seen it recommended over and over. But, I don’t get it? Maybe because I’m a kiwi? It’s sad and all but not at all what I expected I suppose. What’s your unpopular opinion?
