When I was 7yo my father passed away, then when I was 10yo my mother was diagnosed with late-stage cancer.
One of my school friends parents knew about the diagnosis and offered to take me on holiday with them, to give my mum a break for a bit and to take me out of a harsh situation. I'm not sure if my mum gave then money at the time, as we didn't have much and I was very aware of that fact.
So the first night of the weekend away to the coast, my friends dad said when we were ordering our food "oh, do you have enough money to pay for your dinner?"
Bearing in mind I was 10yo, I had no idea how much a dinner should cost and I started to panic and he laughed and sat down some snacks and a drink. The entire holiday was consumed with me worried about leaving my mum with a huge debt to this man because I needed to eat out with this family. Everytime we sat down to eat or went to do an activity, he always made the same "joke". To the point where I made a big fuss about not attending the swimming pool just in case that was adding to "the bill".
When I came back, my mum had severely deteriorated and I obviously didn't ask her about "the bill" but it weighed heavily on my mind.
As a grown woman, I now realise how cruel that was. It's really hurting today. His wife had breast cancer a few year back, I don't know the outcome but I hope no one ever made his child feel that way.
i’ve never had a boyfriend other people find attractive before. i’m the friend who’s known for having an “interesting” taste in men, so imagine my shock when every single person i’ve show a picture of my current boyfriend to has said, “wow, he’s cute!!” guys and girls alike!! he also told me that he’s had girls come up to him in the past to ask him out (myself included, i just got lucky lolll). guys it feels so good because that’s MY man. he’s genuinely the most beautiful man i’ve met inside and out. but yeah, just wanna get this off my chest bc it sounds like bragging if i say it to ppl i know lol.
