Why YSK: Courses being offered online free could help you improve skills and knowledge, and it could also help you get back in the student mindset after a long absence from college. (Or start learning to play that guitar that's gathering dust in the corner that you keep saying you'll get around to practicing with.)
I am returning to college this fall after 15 years of being mostly a stay-at-home mother. While exploring my student portal and all the associated pages I will need to habitually check, I stumbled upon the FreeCampus page. You can find it by using a search term such as "Goview Free Courses FreeCampus," or some combination thereof.
I think it's pretty common knowledge at this point that many schools offer online courses for free with no college credit, but I wanted to share my state university system's specific courses:
Library Instruction: Information Literacy, College Foundations for English Composition, Macroeconomics, Introductory Business Law, College Math Foundations, Elementary Spanish I Refresher Course, Introduction to Marketing, Guitar for Beginners, Introduction to Financial Technology, Elementary French I Refresher Course, Essential Study Skills for College Success, Anatomy and Physiology Prep, Fundamentals of Pathophysiology, Medical Terminology, Medical Mathematics
I wanted to share, because there may be someone out there thinking of going back to college. Maybe they see this and decide to take one of the courses. My hope is that it could help them feel more comfortable with the process and maybe give this hypothetical person a boost in confidence to enroll in college again.
I hope this helps someone.
Edited to add: You can get a certificate of completion by passing a test at the end with 75% or above.
Why YSK : Some libraries have special perks when you get a library card. I've seen my local library give out museum passes. Libraries are also very underrated as signing up is usually free and you have unlimited access to books and resources.
