Act 1-3 Item Checklists and Planner

Hello, all!

Previously I have shared my "beta" version of the unique item checklists for Act 1 - https://www.reddit.com/r/BG3Builds/comments/1crbla4/act_1_missableunique_item_checklist_testing/

Well, after a few weeks, I have covered most of the game equipment, that you can use on your characters. The key was to list out those unique items, that have special effects or stats. I did not include +1 and +2 items as these are general ones and can be easily bought at any vendor.

There are still some equipment pieces missing, but I will be adding them in the coming weeks. Overall, I am really glad with this project as I wanted to make this for some time.

So try my Baldur's Gate 3 Checklists!

Credits: wanted to give a shoutout and mention for Kastorex and Greg758 from BG3 Discord, for suggesting the item highlights and offering item explanations!

So what are the functionalities?

  • You can mark found items without needing to login or register.

  • The markers will persist only on the same browser and device (this is a downside of not using logins :/)

  • Marked good and very good items, with golden highlight (thanks Greg758 and Kastorex from BG3 Discord)

  • You can assign items to companions if you are planning a run and don't want them to overlap.

  • Hovering on the items gives some stat info, have not yet fully imported everything from the game files.

  • Clicking on the items moves to separate page, sadly most of the items don't have their location covered (drop a comment on the item post, if you know the location to help others). I am slowly adding these.

  • Covers Act 1, 2, 3 items. Tried to sort the locations in logical manner, that you would follow when playing the game.

I am using it in my current run, and it's a great way to decide which places to skip as they will neither give good XP nor important gear.

Thank you for reading this and enjoy! If you have ideas or feedback on what could be improved feel free to share them :)

Cheers!

A New Way to Get Bhaalist Armor While Staying Good? A New Way to Get Bhaalist Armor While Staying Good?
Specific Mechanic

As originally seen in this post, it came to my attention that there may actually be a workaround to get the Bhaalist armor without ever having to murder Valeria.

As it turns out, I still have a bunch of old saves in my original Balanced playthrough prior to me going full time honor mode, so I was able to test it and...he's actually correct. You can steal the Bhaalist armor along with the other items the Bhaalist vendor normally sells just by triggering the ghost to appear during your conversation with Sarevok and then pickpocketing the ghost. I took a screenshot here of a level 12 Rogue Astarion peeping the contents of Dribbles the clown's inventory. It's a target of 16 sleight of hand skill check in this context (level 12 rogue, 20 dex, gloves of thievery). As per the post I've now included in my edit, the underlying DC check is actually 29.

So, at least in principle, there is now, definitively, a way to get the Bhaalist armor without having to be evil at all. You just have to trigger the appearance of the ghost in front of Sarevok with the "I'm ready to be judged" option (which also doesn't spark disapproval from anyone) and then bring in someone from outside the conversation to pickpocket the ghost that shows up.

Now, the downside: if you fail the pickpocket check here, combat automatically triggers with everyone temporarily hostile. As such, I'm not sure how viable this is for honor mode as that's a pretty high check. But I know you people get pretty creative with this stuff, so the fact that it's at least possible in principle seems like a promising start.

If anyone has any ideas on how to make this process go more smoothly I can test it out on this save I now have. The above was a very lazy potion of invis + pickpocket with Astarion out of conversation (I held him back and then just switched to him during the conversation).

Tagging u/TheOnlyFace and u/Atroxo for credit and due to common interest in the subject.

edit: see post here for some math. As far as I can tell, it would be pretty easy to make this check automatic. So unless I'm missing something or this is patched, this is a completely viable way to now get the Bhaalist armor on a good playthrough.

edit 2: if someone is able to pull this off in honor mode I'd appreciate you letting us know!
