Firmament expected to release on PS VR2 fall 2024

From Cyan's Kickstarter update:

We want to thank every one of you who has been patiently waiting for Firmament to arrive on PS4, PS5, and PS VR2. Can you believe it’s been a year since the game launched on PC/Mac and PCVR? It seems like it was just yesterday that we were waiting to push the button to deliver the game, and now we’re working hard to do the same for the PlayStation version!

While the team has also been working on another little game you might know…something called Riven…we’ve also been making great progress toward getting Firmament ready for PlayStation!

Fun fact: We’ve already made nearly approximately 1000 individual changes to our custom version of Unreal Engine that are contributing to getting Firmament ready for prime-time in Unreal Engine 5 from Unreal Engine 4, which was a required move for us to ship on PlayStation.

Now that our engine upgrade is complete, and we’ve done some initial testing of Firmament on PlayStation, we feel comfortable announcing that we’re aiming for Firmament’s release for PlayStation to be FALL 2024!

We still have more work to do to get the game running well on the platform and to conform with various platform requirements that we must meet prior to submitting to certification, but we have high hopes that we will be able to ship Firmament on PlayStation this Fall.

Is there anyone else that thinks Assassin's Creed Nexus is better than Asgard's Wrath 2 ?

Just curios, how many of you, just like myself, enjoy Nexus more than Asgard's Wrath 2? If so, why do you think Nexus is the superior game?

Asgard's Wrath 2, mechanics-wise, is a more solid and polished game. Nexus suffers a lot from floaty and unresponsive combat, glitches, and poor physics and object interactions. A more powerful CPU would have made Nexus so much better. However, despite of all these draw backs, the game comes together really nicely. It's really addicting. It feels rich , varied and fun to play. It's one of the most underrated games on quest.

So no Meta Gaming Showcase this year? We're way past the previous announce dates

So no Meta Gaming Showcase this year? We're way past the previous announce dates
  • Last year, the Meta Gaming Showcase was announced 5-1-2023, and set for 6-1-2023 (likely to get in ahead of Apple's WWDC June 5th event unveiling the Apple Vision Pro for the first time).

  • Previous two years, they were announced around March and set for April.

This year, we have not heard anything and we're nearing June. This is the longest they've gone without a word. Are we still getting it? They mentioned Batman Arkham Shadow will show more footage or information at the Summer Video Game Event (Geoff Keighley's substitute for E3) but what about VR games?

The reason I think summer is a good time to reveal things is it prepares consumers for the Fall/Winter release window. That is when the weather is cooler for VR, more people are inside, and it's closer to the Holidays. Great time to release big VR games.

Denny Unger of Cloudhead Games (Pistol Whip) keeps saying he knows about a lot of big VR games from other developers but cannot say what it is. But we have to be patient since they take time to make. But he's said this for a long time. Wouldn't this year be the year to have more big announcements compared to 2020-2023?

WONDERS game developer here!

Hi, I'm u/DizzyAardvark8314. We have a VR gaming company publishing in the Quest store. As you may or may not have heard, there was a thread posted here today showing someone from our company offering a key for the game in exchange for a positive review. That was me. I messed up.

I'm a new VR game designer, and in the hype to try to spread the good word about the experience in our game I tried to make an offer to a handful of people. I phrased it terribly, and I understand that it looked really bad. You should know that it wasn't intentional. English isn't my first language. I've gotten assistance in typing this out to you in better English so that everyone can understand the issue and how bad I feel about the misunderstanding. When the thread here was posted here I panicked a little, because l'd screwed up and didn't want it to hurt the game or the company. It's my own mistake, and I don't want anyone getting hurt because of it. I apologize for it, and I want to publicly correct it here for all of you just as I sent corrected messages to the people I made the offer to.

We want positive reviews. Of course we do, every game developer does. But we want honest reviews and honest feedback from the VR gaming community. We want real, legitimate positive reviews, not positive reviews in exchange for something. If you play our game and there's something you don't like or feel we can do better, please let us know.

To try to make up for this issue, l've set our game to be free to try for 15 minutes before purchasing. That will let you see for yourself if it's something you'd enjoy and are willing to support with your purchase, without having to wonder about any previous reviews. But, again, we value and really do want honest reviews, and we hope that anyone who purchases our game will leave one both so that other potential players know if it's worth picking up and so that we know what we can do better in.

VR gaming is still relatively niche, and we're not doing this as some sort of cash grab. We care about the games and the community and we want to keep getting better and providing better content for everyone to enjoy. We want to succeed, and we need your help to do that.
