This is ridiculous. What in the world are Microsoft executives thinking with this extreme spyware?
Just imagine: By 2025, the only PC people will be able to buy is this Copliot+ nonsense. Most people won't know about it or change their settings. And the security risk and attack surface of this thing is INSANE. And it won't censor sensitive information? This is a hacker's, law enforcement's, oppressive government's wet dream.
This is fucking outrageous.
I've been thinking about switching to Linux, but now I want to switch as soon as possible.

Here's what I believe Microsoft (and partners) have in store for the future: they are going all-in on pulling an Apple-style switch to ARM on the PC hardware market. This move has several concomitant side-effects:
Making AI a mandatory feature on the PC, with all the juicy free data they will be able to harvest from it. Requiring an NPU (i.e. an AI-capable chip) as a standard on all future PCs.
Herding all the PC Gamer market onto the XBOX (which will still be Intel/AMD based) and possibly onto other upcoming compatible consoles (there's been talk of allowing Steam and Epic marketplaces on the XBOX platform, which would be HUGE... also, a Steam console, anyone?) It's possible that the x86_64
architecture will remain in wide use as gaming hardware.
(Possibly) Locking down the ability of booting Linux or any other OS on such ARM hardware. This should be contested with all the Anti-Trust legal recourse available everywhere. (EDIT: )
Setting back the advance of the Linux marketshare at least for a while.
This last point is the one I would emphasize the most: currently, Linux on ARM seems to be kind of an afterthought among developers, and most distributions have builds targeted at the Raspberry Pi and such small platforms. To my knowledge, only RHEL (and its community clones) offer an ARM build with full desktop capabilities, but these seem to be targeted at servers.
How long until the major Linux distributions catch up with the switch to ARM, and become ready to deliver the current level of software reliability onto the new PCs?
I am presenting my concerns here, I believe these issues should be discussed. No point in burying the post if you don't fully agree with what I'm saying. I would appreciate your opinion and insight, thanks.

For now it will sit side-by-side with classic Autopilot. It sounds like it's built on new infrastructure, supports better troubleshooting and monitoring, Govcloud support, and sports a redesigned OOBE with more resiliency built in.
There are some more features and screenshots available on the Intune blog post.

With all these changes back and forth, the inconvenience of having to relearn the UI every few months is damaging ease of use. Most notably to me is the moving of the notifications and messages buttons.
In the first edition of the new mobile layout, they moved DMs from the top of the screen to the taskbar. This was different, and people complained. Many also weren't fond of the visual design changes.
Now, several months later, they change the position of the DMs back to the top left, but leave the layout and design changes otherwise.
Hear me out: let us put the items we want on our taskbar. I personally couldn't care less about the notifications tab. I don't even look at it. If I could replace that button on the taskbar with messages, but keep the button on the top left, the app would be perfect.
Let us make choices about how the app is laid out instead of forcing the design changes back and forth! A couple settings in the appearance or accessibilities section cannot be that difficult!

This subreddit provides a place for Uber riders and drivers to discuss their experiences. Its sister subreddit is /r/uberdrivers. This subreddit has zero corporate influence from any outside entity.
I’ve always been courteous when it comes to arrival / driver taking their time, etc. I have to be at work at 7:00 (5 min drive from my house) I request ride at 6:35, driver en route 8 minutes, great! The dude stood in the same fucking location for about five minutes before I realized and now I scramble to get to work because you aren’t doing the job you took.
It’s a simple just not taking it if you’re gonna park in a fucking parking lot, dude
I think a lot of people aren’t understanding here that he literally accepted my ride and it gave me an ETA for when he would arrive at my house. I’m just looking at him on the map.
