It was 32 years ago tonight - Friday, May 22, 1992 - when the final "Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" aired on NBC. It was show #4531. There were no guests, Carson sat on a stool instead of sitting at his desk and presented a retrospective of clips covering three decades.

How long will it take for older generations to realize millennial isn't synonymous with "young"

I've seen the same post about older generations joking that "millennials can't read cursive!!" a few times recently on this sub. I have also seen countless other examples of them seeming to think that millennial is a synonym for young (and in their mind, naive) people. Gen Z is quick to humble millennials for being "old," so it's sort of a joke that we get it from both sides.

Honestly, I feel like the older generations will go to their grave thinking "those damn, entitled, clueless, little millennials."

Generation X was born, by broadest definition, between 1961 and 1981, the greatest anti-child cycle in modern history. Nevertheless, we grew up to become the world's most devoted parents: the "workhorse of America." This sub welcomes links, photos, graphics, memoirs, commentaries, stories, etc., for and about Gen-Xers, the 13th Generation of Americans. GenX also translates to many other parts of the world.

What if, and hear me out, we just all dropped our subscription services and stopped tipping?

We are in our peak earning years, our peak targeted ad years, our peak child rearing years (some), and our peak “our money talks (AND CAN WALK)” years.

What if we just as a group decided to stop subscriptions and tipping? Cold turkey. No exceptions.

No matter what it is, we collectively say no. We get the X’ers to say no and the boomers too if we can. Young M’s may be a stretch, BUT, if we do this we can stop this outrageous culture of subscriptions and tipping!!

I’ll start. Canceled Netflix and Apple Music today. Next is prime.

EDIT: wow, lots and lots of controversy on this. I thought this would be a shoe-in agreement. Very surprised that all you moneybags are cool with the subscription/tipping culture of today. First thing I’ve had any disagreement with on this sub. I guess I missed out on the Scrooge McDuck money.

EDIT 2: How do I start a Paetron account so you all can tip me for the wonderful conversation I started. Tips start at 23.75% of $100

Any other millennials that are just simply exhausted by the idea of existence?

31m... the idea of living another 30 years is absolutely exhausting to me. The idea of another 10 is even pushing it. Is it just me? This life already feels like living 3 times longer than what I actually have. The mental exhaustion, emotional exhaustion, that comes with the idea of simply existing is a lot.

My entire middle school has been plagued with it. I can't go a hour without hearing people only saying it. I'm fine with it usually but as the school year comes to a end I find it really annoying.
