Simulation games

I'm not sure if this post is allowed here so I understand if it gets removed. I saw recently that our was pretty popular on this sub and it was a joy seeing it.

However, there is another side to this. For over a year now has been selling portraits created with our tool. All their offers combined, they already amassed over 1000 reviews with each portrait selling from 17- 35 euros. So you can imagine the kind of money they made off our backs. We also never made a single cent ourselves from the portrait maker, we made it to share our love for the game with others. To add insult to injury, they also were they pretend to draw all the art from scratch.

After that, at least two more shops have opened up, doing the exact same thing and , also complete with pretending to draw the images from scratch.

Of course, using the images for profit is against the tos that we set for our portrait creator but it's not like it will stop people.

I contacted etsy about this but they refused to act and I don't know what to do. If anyone has any experience with this sort thing, please let me know.

I just feel so used seeing how people abuse our work and I honestly regret ever spending the hundreds of hours I did making the art and releasing the tool. but I think this will be it for me, I cannot feel any enjoyment from it anymore because of this and there is always this little whisper in my head, "you will just be used again" whenever I try to create something new.

I (22F) have been working as a farmer in a little town for around three years. In that time, I met my husband who I’ll call S. He was very reclusive and shy. Exactly my type and very kind to me at the start of our relationship. Now that we’ve been married for around a year and a half, I’ve been feeling that something is off. He’s colder to me and will take walks most days for ‘alone time’ and not get home until midnight! I think it might have something to do with our 6 month old baby who I’ll just call B.

My theory is that S is mad that B doesn’t look anything like him.He has very dark hair and pale skin. Our kid has brown hair and looks nothing like either of us! I think he suspects my friend of being the real father.

My friend E is an aspiring writer and one of the most passionate people I know. He’s moved away from home to pursue a career in our small run down town. We had that in common, which is how our friendship started. The other day, E was acting kind of strange, all blushy and at a loss for words. He said he fixed up his old boat and wanted to take me for a little ride across the lake. When we were pretty far from the dock, E just all of a sudden kissed me randomly OUT OF NOWHERE!! I had no idea what to do. I was shaking. He asked me if I was scared and I didn’t know what to say so I just told him I was ‘happy’

When I got home, my husband was waiting for me in the kitchen and he asked how my day was. I didn’t know what to say so I lied and told him it was good. He just walked away and didn’t even notice how shaken I was. I ran upstairs trying to hide that I was crying, to go see my daughter.

I want S to love me again. I never want to see E again. My life is falling apart! Maybe If I communicated better this wouldn’t have happened. How will I explain this to my family?

Pretty much the question. As entertaining as it is to watch someone very skilled in the game, like AdamvsEverything or PeteComplete, those kinds of players have one thing lacking -- they are relatively detached from their colonists.

This dude's mother died from hypothermia? Oh well.

That child wandered into my colony? Her stats suck, let me feed her to my ghoul.

I mean, I understand that desensitization comes with having countless hundreds of hours in the game, so I don't blame them, but it kinda makes me wonder if there are content creators for this game that go the opposite way.

Y'know, do stuff like come up with biographies for their colonists, cheer when things work out for them, get upset when things go badly, spent time and effort to give proper burials to their pawns, try to research things like xenogenetics and cyberimplants to fix health issues and give more fulfilling life to their colonists and so on and so forth.

I’m one of the many people who revisited Stardew with the latest patch. I’m not even sure why, it just caught my eye and renewed my interest. I played a lot of Stardew on release, but believe it or not, I found it really stressful as a game. So many different options, people, things to focus on… I was trying to optimise every day and do things perfectly and make all the correct decisions, which quickly became exhausting.

When I’ve come back to the game, I’ve been so refreshed by the atmosphere and wondered how I could’ve been so stressed. I’ve fully taken in the music, the rainy days, the joy of taking my time with everything and it’s so refreshingly different to other games where it’s “rush rush rush grind grind grind” and there’s a pressure to be perfect. I’m having so much fun bumbling along at my own pace, even if a day is ‘wasted’.

Not much of a point to the post, just wondered if anybody else had a similar experience and I wonder what makes Stardew fun for all of you!
