Microsoft recently announced that they will officially be monitoring every single action users make. This decision is likely to upset many people, creating an opportunity for Linux developers to capitalize on this advantage. To attract more users, developers should consider increasing advertisements, such as YouTube ads, to highlight the benefits of switching to Linux. Additionally, emphasizing improvements in game support, controller support, ease of use with Wayland, and the new Nvidia 555 driver, which adds explicit sync, could further entice users to make the switch. By focusing on these key areas, Linux could significantly increase its market share. However, advertising could be challenging given the multitude of Linux distributions available. Forming a union or coalition of Linux distributions to pool resources and create unified marketing campaigns could be a viable strategy, although it may be difficult to achieve. To fully capitalize on this moment, Linux developers and advocates should highlight compatibility and support, promote security and privacy, leverage community support, and showcase commercial options. The developers should emphasize the underlying issue with Windows, which is currently privacy and performance, areas where Linux excels. Showcasing commercial options could also be a good start, presenting well-supported commercial distros like Ubuntu, Mint, and Pop!_OS. By implementing these strategies, the Linux community can better position itself to attract users disillusioned by Microsoft's recent actions.

How can I prevent this?

I know that those people didn't leave because one of them was a friend who died 1,5 year ago. I really wanted to keep her on the server but now she's gone :/

Pc/gpu is dying and I can't wait for the 50 series or else I'd be forced to touch grass for months. What are the "best value" right now? Gaming is my main hobby and pastime so budget is flexible, but 4090 is 2.2k usd in my country right now (more than or close to my entire current rig I think lol) and I feel like I'm getting mugged xD.

Also which one is likely to sell fast/retain value (used) if I swap to a 50 series later? And if I don't swap, which one has the best value to future proof ratio?

Target is 1440p 144hz max settings, at least.

I should first start off by saying, thank you , , and for all your help in the development of this project. It is greatly appreciated, and a lot of this would have not been possible without you. Mad respect.

We released this project a few months ago on Reddit, and it ended up being a flop due to endless bugs it had at the time. So, between then and now, we spent countless hours working out all the bugs and adding new features.

This is a checkm8 downgrade tool that allows you to, as of now, tether downgrade any a7-a11 device to just about any version of iOS without any need for blobs. This includes devices that are running iOS 16 or 17 prior to downgrade. Yes, you heard that right, we now support iPhone 8, 8+, and iPhone X as well as devices running iOS 16 or 17.

We made release posts for semaphorin in the past, but those were betas and were plagued with bugs. we have spend countless hours fixing all the bugs with semaphorin. if you have any issues you can reach out to me on discord, my username is ka7hrtp

Some of the most notably changes

• You can now downgrade even if your device is running iOS 16 or later prior to downgrade

• We now support a10x and a11 devices in addition to a7-a10 devices

• Camera, photos apps are fixed

• Usb related issues have been addressed, especially for a7 devices

• iOS 9 support, even for a9 devices, including the iPhone 6s and iPhone SE

• iOS 8 support for a8 devices, including the iPhone 6

Please avoid using the gui version of Semaphorin!! It is for demonstration purposes only, and can be especially hard to use on devices running iOS 16 or later prior to downgrade. You should use the terminal version instead. If you are reaching out to us for support, do expect to be told to switch to the terminal version if you were using the gui. How do I use this?

This script deletes everything on your phone, including the main OS if you are not downgrading to iOS 10.3.3 or later. Make sure to backup all of your data before using this script as **anything on the device prior to running this script will be unrecoverable afterwards**. Use this script at your own risk. We are not responsible for any damages caused by you using this script.

To use this app, you need to downgrade to a supported version, and have a supported device.

`xcode-select install` to install `git` on macos

`git clone && cd Semaphorin`

Connect device in DFU mode

`sudo ./semaphorin.sh <the version you are downgrading to> --restore`

For example you may write `sudo ./semaphorin.sh 9.3 --restore`

The script has to backup important files from your current iOS version before you can downgrade.

When the script asks `[*] Please enter the iOS version that is currently installed on your device.`, type your current iOS version and then hit the Enter key to continue.

It should then begin the process of downgrading your device. Please follow the on screen instructions. This might take a while. Your device will reboot multiple times.

Subsequent runs after downgrade is finished

Connect device in DFU mode

`sudo ./semaphorin.sh <the version you downgraded to previously> --boot`

For example, if you downgraded to iOS 9.3, you would run `sudo ./semaphorin.sh 9.3 --boot`.

It should just boot to your requested iOS version normally.
