Cringe & Facepalm

So waiting to pay at lidl today, I notice the boomer lady behind me pick up one of my items look it over and set it down. I let it slide, but then she did it again. I asked her if she needed help and she didn't even have the decency to give a verbal response. Just gave a dismissive stare and sort of eye roll. I told her then that if she wanted one she can grab them from the back. She mumbled something at this point so I added, a bit more assertively. Don't touch my groceries. At this point she did the arm cross and foot tap like to the point of stomping. It was honestly kind of funny so I left it at that. What is wrong with these people?

Our city allows for heavy trash pickup at the end of each month. Two months ago I was taking my dog on a walk through the neighborhood on the morning of a pickup. One street over someone had put an old park bench on the curb with their trash cans.

I snapped a pic and sent it to my friend asking if they thought it was salvageable. They said sure, we can try. I came back and grabbed it. My friend helped repair one of the legs - screws were rusted and broke off, leaving the leg unconnected to the bench on one end. After that I power washed the mildew off then stained it and also painted all the metal.

I then placed the bench in my front yard under some trees where I’d mulched and planted flowers. One morning about a week later it was gone. My neighbor’s doorbell caught the person who took it - yeah, it was the people who had thrown it out (it was their truck they loaded it into).

I went over there and yep, it was now in their front yard. I knocked on the door and asked them what was going on. They simply said it was theirs and they didn’t give me permission to take it. I said it was on the curb with the trash. They said they changed their mind and wanted it back.

I called the police and they came over. I showed them the pic I took of it on the street, a couple of me fixing it up, and finally a pic once it was in my yard. I went with them over to the neighbor’s and the police told them to give it back and they did but not without complaining that I basically stole it. Police told them that if it was in the trash then it’s fair game. I think they knew it was wrong or they wouldn’t have sneaked over to take it after dark. It was dumb to put it in the front yard but I guess they figured I wouldn’t push the issue.

ETA: several have said to watch out for retaliation - I’m not super worried because they are at least in their mid-70s.

Im camping atm, and earlier today 2 adults came and set up a tent with balloons and streamers at the campsite next to me.

Campsite has strict noise restrictions past 10pm, but I consider it a dick move calling the camp manager down after hours.

At 10.02 a car backs up to my tent, 4 girls : maybe 13/14 years old pile out of the car and start running back and forth in front of my tent to their tent. Cheap pefume floods my tent and makes my head ache.

The car leaves, and the girls get louder. They are singing clapping yelling, playing music, making loud phone calls, strumming a guitar like its the first time they’ve touched one, running into my camp area etc.

Im not gonna be the arse who ruins a girls birthday because she was screaming “im so excited” and clapping over and over, but goddamn I was about to go to bed and I barely slept last night so this sucks.

My personal experience with Boomers is theyre always doing something pointless around the house. When I have nothing to do and have time off, i just chill and relax and unwind. My parents and step parents are always fixing something, buying something, rearranging something, cleaning something, inventing something new in the house. And its fine if thats what makes you happy, but the problem is it clearly doesent make them happy. Everytime my family is working around the house they are angry and complaining. My stepdad out of nowhere thought of creating this whole project and then was getting mad at all the work he had to do. Like what? You didnt have to do this lol. Just pay someone if it makes you angry. Also im trying to sleep because I need sleep to be productive at work. But no lets start banging this pipe or drilling into the wall at 6am. When i save enough to move out I will never own a house and I will enjoy my silence, i cant wait.

We cannot afford a house. We're millennial/Gen z cuspers. We're getting close to affording a house, but not quite yet.

Boomer MIL has sent these photos off FB that are AI generated unrealistic houses. Saying we should get a tiny house and we could have it set up like these images. We have tried to inform her they're AI generated, but she doesn't get it. She insists we should buy a house just like those. Houses "just like those" don't exist in our area...or probably anywhere. I cannot emphasize how unrealistic these pictures were. Even if you didn't know AI existed, you'd think they were photoshopped or drawn by someone.
