The other reason is that the central focus of the story (perhaps I should have left in the 200 word summary) was how a seemingly insignificant event that occurs during the EU4 timeframe, i.e. the British landing in Quiberon (compared to say, the fall of Constantinople, discovery of the new world, reformation, enlightenment, Waterloo, etc) could have drastic differences on Europe as we know it today.

With Gelt moving to Cathay and getting his nerd college while Franz keeps the elector counts stuff, empire is now the only race whose every faction has at least one unique mechanic, rather than just faction and lord effects.
Hopefully one day we can get to every LL having SOMETHING to set them apart mechanically from the rest (and they don't have to be nearly as in depth as some of these new ones), but admittedly there are a lot that still don't have any. It really sucked when CA released CD without any unique mechanics per lord. With them all starting pretty close to each other it felt very samey.

I was doing some reading on Operation Weserübung and the invasion of Norway and Denmark and I was sort of shocked just how much iron Sweden was able to supply Germany with.
According to , from 1933-1943 43% of all iron ore used by Germany was Swedish, compared to 28% being domestically produced.
In game, Sweden only has 5% of the worlds steel, whereas France and the US has 20% each, the Soviets have 15%, Germany has 10%, and the UK has 10%.
Perhaps anecdotally, but I think I can count on my fingers the number of times I've actually been aided by steel imports from Sweden playing as Germany. I don't feel like it should be like that.
