Hey guys, horror story incoming.
I (mid 30s) went to school with a smart young chap who we will call Robert. Robert and I were fast friends in high-school, but drifted apart when we went to different colleges and universities.
When I returned to my home town, about 10 years after graduating high-school, I went to support a local band playing at a venue, and I bumped into my old friend Robert.
We had a good catch-up about our lives, enjoyed the rockshow, had a good dance, and Robert hooked up with a cute girl who danced with us for a while.
A year later, I went to another venue to support the same band (the lead singer and guitarist is a friend of mine), and I bumped into Robert once more. The change was stark.
In 12 months, he had aged about 5 years. Fully grey hair, bags under his eyes, and a thoroughly exhausted complexion. Apparently, he hooked up with the girl we were dancing with the year before. He slept over at her place, but they didn't keep any sort of contact. Classic 1 night stand.
9 months later, she turned up on his door with a baby in hand and some "exiting news" for my friend. Apparently, she got pregnant after sleeping with Robert but had absolutely no symptoms at all. She collapsed at work and when she got to the hospital they told her she was in labour. 😱
She had the baby and then had to try and hunt my friend down as they hadn't even text since they hooked up.
What an absolute nightmare! Fortunately for Robert, the two hit it off really well and seem to be doing OK together. They are now a couple together and are raising the child.
If there was ever a story to convince me to get snipped, this was it.
