Narrowly misses a Maddux.

Also, my bad. 4K

[Guardado] Alex Cobb a victim of bad luck? Alex Cobb has so far been the unluckiest pitcher in baseball, with the largest gap between ERA and expected ERA

[Passan] Alex Cobb throwing 97

Jeff Passan:

Full disclosure: I haven't seen this yet. But multiple scouts have heard that Cobb, whose fastball averaged 93 mph last season, is hitting 97 these days. If that's the case -- or if he's anywhere close to that -- the San Francisco Giants are going to have one whale of a rotation, and the predictions of severe regression might be a tad premature. Cobb, Logan Webb, a healthy Carlos Rodon, Alex Wood, Anthony DeSclafani? That will play against anyone.

Source

I've looked for other sources and can't seem to find any confirmation of this. His fastball touched 95 last year, but typically ran 92-93. I'm excited to see this guy pitch regardless, but if he's added another 2-3 mph... Look out!

The Baltimore Orioles 4.5 million dollars deferred to 36 year old Alex Cobb is projected to be the 3rd highest paid pitcher on their roster.

[Webeck] Each time Shohei Ohtani came to bat today, Seattle fans pleaded in unison for him to sign here. Alex Cobb heard. “He’s not coming to Seattle. Ichiro’s already got his stamp on here. He needs a new place. He’s coming to San Francisco.”
