Hooked up my psvr1 again for the first time in a couple years.

Astro bot is still one of the best gaming experiences of my life. I’m 41 and it makes me giddy like a little kid.

In the past I have played beat saber, blood and truth, farpoint, borderlands 2, Tetris effect, super hot, until dawn rush of blood and firewall to name a few.

I’m interested in playing games I missed before, namely ace combat 7 and maybe lucky’s tale. Do I just get the standard versions of those games and they’re VR enabled?

What are some other good game suggestions? Ideally that I can go get a cheap physical copy of.

I want a PsVR2 for resident evil 4 and GT7 so bad but just can’t right now.

Why I like the tethered battery approach better

Having a tethered battery like what the Apple Vision Pro has may be extra cumbersome but overall I prefer it for the following reasons:

  • The obvious; it reduces weight. Even if through superb engineering we got all the advanced features down to a 300 gram HMD with a built-in battery, I still think we should just remove the internal battery to reduce weight further. There's not a point where I would say, "now it's light enough to where we don't need the tethered battery", if it could be made even lighter without compromising on its features and performance, I would opt to do so every time. It can never be "too light".

  • Less underclocking performance. Speaking of "compromising on performance", you are actually compromising performance-wise by having a built-in battery, because the battery adds an additional layer of heat that requires further underclocking the chipset to avoid overheating. By having the battery be outside the HMD, this removes one component that contributes to the internal temperature, giving more headroom for better performance.

  • It is more easily replaceable. From my experience, particularly in smartphones, batteries are the first things to go bad, they inevitably degrade overtime. There are things you can do to preserve lifetime further, like not charging over 80% of the battery, but I don't always care to follow those steps. I would rather just leave it charging and not have to worry. Replacing an internal battery is more of a pain because you have to take apart the device, and if you aren't comfortable doing it, you will have to pay someone else to. Also, built-in batteries are typically proprietary and not sold by the manufacturer (although you can often find a particular battery on ebay or ifixit). With an external battery pack, you just need to buy a new one and plug it in, that's it.

And while that wire is still a bit of a hassle many may not want to deal with, it doesn't have to be. Consider the Quest Pro or Vive XR Elite. The Quest Pro does not have a battery in the front, it is built-in to the back with a visible wire going to it. There could be an option to attach a rear battery strap where it plugs right in. The Vive XR Elite is like this. It comes with a rear battery strap or if I prefer, I can remove it and plug it into an external battery.

What do you think?

Quest 3 is the greatest shit ever!

Just replaced my Quest 2 with the 3 and I honestly didn't expect that much, but I'm blown away! This thing is a major improvement in every possible way and I think it's one of the most fun devices I've ever purchased! Always got a bit of a headache after playing Quest 2 but on the 3? Nothing! Lenses are amazing controlers are great and I don't feel the weight of the headset at all! The slimmer housing really did it for me and my new head strap is also way more lightweight then my Quest 2 one! Love it! Also loving mixed reality, yes the cameras aren't perfect but still. Only downside is the battery, but I've never used my Quest 2 on the build in battery either. So I'm already used to always having an external battery or power adapter.

Me recomiendan Fallout 76?
