The oldest of us are closer to 50 than 40… this is your last few years to get healthy before seriously adding more risk

Lots of studies show after the age of 50 that a turn-around in health is next to impossible (if the healthy behaviors don’t yet exist)

If you are waking up daily, looking in the mirror and seeing an overweight, low muscle tone, high blood pressure, pre-diabetic, low VO2 max human reflecting back at you… then you only have a few more years before you seriously won’t be able to change this easy.

You are aging, your metabolism is slowing, you are on the downward slide soon. This makes correcting the health issues you can take care of with diet and exercise easier to start now, than in a few more years.

If you have not yet fully embraced the fact that this is your last chance for change, and haven’t begun taking steps to set yourself up for a healthy older age by getting into shape now… then please consider this your cold slap in the face to get motivated.

I looked in the mirror after COVID, didn’t like what I saw, didn’t like my blood pressure numbers, my cholesterol, my prior athletic physique slipping away… so I spent the last few years correcting what I almost lost during that lock-down.

I’m now healthier than I’ve ever been in my life, it just took time and a LOT of effort- and was worth it.

Start now, before it’s too late. Set yourself up for success before you turn 50…

Anyone else totally burnt out from being constantly connected digitally to everything and everyone?

I remember when I was in my teens and early 20s, my mum (boomer generation) would constantly have a go at me for being on my phone messaging too much, “your friends will live if it takes you a couple of hours to reply”.

Fast forward to now and I genuinely don’t know how I did it - I’m so mentally fatigued that it takes me days/weeks to reply to messages! I will lose hours scrolling mindlessly on my phone but the idea of replying to even my best friends seems so overwhelming. I don’t know how to break this cycle even though it’s isolating and unhealthy.

The irony is my mum now has the expectation that since everyone IS so connected via their phones, that people should reply immediately to messages.

She was ripping into my cousin saying ‘I saw she was online and she still didn’t respond to my message until the next day, SO RUDE’ … I tried to explain to her that she could be overwhelmed or even just busy using her phone for other purposes, and just got ‘well she posts on her social media so she’s clearly got spare time, it’s not that hard to reply to a message’

I have this ‘see when you’re online’ feature turned off for this exact reason 🤦🏻‍♀️

Anyone else relate to this?

When/why did breakfast stop being a thing for our generation?

Pretty much whenever it comes up in some form or another that I eat breakfast people tend to act like I’m crazy. I don’t understand. Weren’t we all raised on the 3 meals a day mentality? If you want to skip breakfast, fine, doesn’t bother me, but why are people acting like 3 meals a day is this foreign concept now? It’s really baffling to me that it’s something I even have to explain to people.

Edit: To clarify because it seems like people have different understandings of what breakfast means, in my mind breakfast is just something you eat in the morning, it doesn’t have to be a full hot meal necessarily. Could be one small item.

Edit 2: Thanks to everyone who’s pointing out that any meal that “breaks the fast” is breakfast. I think it’s pretty obvious what I mean when I say breakfast, no need to be a smart ass.
