If you go back and watch Kyle's videos on Chafee from 2015, he trashes on him relentlessly. This is in spite of the fact that he was the only senatorial Republican to vote against the Iraq War, was an inveterate supporter of gay rights, endorsed a 39.6% tax rate for the top 1%, blocked John Bolton's nomination in the Senate and openly voted against George W. Bush for reelection in 2004. He later became an exceptionally progressive Democrat and ran for the Libertarian nomination in 2020.

Is Kyle simply not educated on his background? He's not the most left-wing politician in the country but he's done some great work. I'm aware that he can be somewhat awkward and cringeworthy at times, but Kyle has always emphasized that he values susbtance over delivery. Kyle is someone who I respect even if I often disagree with him and I was surprised to find that he refuses to give Chafee any credit. As an aside, I believe that he's also never even mentioned Dennis Kucinich, an American hero who ran in 2004. Rather, when discussing the 2004 cycle, he dubbed the more moderate Howard Dean as the "Bernie" of 2004. I simply see it as strange that as such an educated person, Kyle is ignorant to some of the earlier American leftist champions.
