What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.

helloo thank you for the lovely ask!! it was so fun to answer <3

i saw your ask game thing! and picked a bunch of random numbers! 7, 37, 57

and, separately (sjsskkd these are just random personal questions sorry for lumping this all in one ask) if death was corporeal, how do you imagine them to look like? be like? how would they act?

and — what’s the best time and place to see the sky?

Avatar

OOPS i burried my ask game and i cant find it again sorry T-T

i will answer your other question though- i think death would take on the form of my younger self, probably me when i was in grade 3. the world was beautiful back then- i read everyday, i wrote all the time, and i was smartest in my class without sacrificing my happiness or relationships with my friends.

I don't really have a good reason for why i imagine death to look like this. I just think it would be so brilliantly twisted, to see myself when i was living life the fullest in my moments of death. Or maybe a part of me just wants to see her again before i die.

Oh and for the sky question, i think the best time is in the evening. I'm not sure if this happens everywhere, but it's so curious when it's 5-6pm and the sky is still light when it's supposed to be fully black and sometimes it's even dark purple or dark red and i just think that's so rare and it unsettles me a little, but i love things that unsettle me.

As for where i think the best place to see the sky is... Hmm, there are probably many places- somewhere without anything blocking the view, like the desert, or maybe somewhere high up so you can see the clouds/stars closer up, but i think the sky is too grand and significant for me to answer this question based on such impersonal logistics. I think the best place to appreciate the sky is in a place that is all yours- somewhere you can be alone or with your loved ones, somewhere you can call your home and your own space, so that you can look up at the sky and ponder about the universe in all its terrifying enormity and realise that you've stolen a part of it all for yourself.

i hope my answers were adequate :)

oh my god i forgot to reply to this SORRY

my jaw dropped my face was literally like :0000 when i read that. the dichotomy of yourself when you lived your life to the fullest, coming to collect you again as your life ends. it’s beautiful it’s painful it’s EVERYTHING. IN LOVE WITH YOUR MIND

that is such an interesting answer, and i def know what you’re talking about!! it’s sort of an in between moment, if you might. ALSO THE BEST PLACE TO APPRECIATE THE SKY IS A PLACE THAT IS ALL YOURS — 18283 DEAD 2455455300 INJURED. THAT IS SO GORGEOUS.

AND REALISE YOU’VE STOLEN A PART OF IT ALL FOR YOURSELF. SHSBSBNDJJDJDJSJSJDJDJSJSJ THAT IS BEAUTIFUL. THE IDEA OF TAKING A PIECE OF THE SKY. TO TAKE A LITTLE BIT OF THE WORLD, THE SKY AND ITS VASTNESS AND THE WAY IT LOOMS OVER US ALL, ALL FOR YOURSELF. THE WAY IT IS STOLEN, THERE BEING SOMETHING CLANDESTINE, SOMETHING ILLICIT ABOUT IT. i’m so normal about this

thanks for like. fundamentally altering my brain chemistry

hii your pfp is so cute. shes from dead boy detectives right? im so excited to watch that and im so excited to meet ber because i went to netflix i saw the characters and went ehhh but then i saw HER and i was like yay :) idk idk

i cant wait to watch itt. ive watched the sandman a while back and i loved that. have you watched the sandman? what are your thoughts on it?

Avatar

yes my pfp is from dead boy detectives (the character’s name is niko sasaki) :))))) I can’t wait for you to watch it as well! most people don’t enjoy the first episode as much I believe but end up loving the series if they don’t decide to drop it.

for the sandman I probably forgot a lot of the details since I have really bad memory but I remember when I watched it I was obsessed. I stayed up watching it on a school day so I could finish the show even though I barely got any sleep since I had to wake up early the next day for something else. I think one of the things that hooked me was the main title theme song, but also just the lore and visuals and everything. I’m really happy there’s going to be a second season and also hoping since dead boy detectives will also get a season 2 since it takes place in the same universe as the sandman.

@sleepy-vix what’re your thoughts on the sandman? and how’s life been treating you recently? what book are you reading now?

oooh hm i loved the sandman sm. it was a little slow at the start but i think that was necessary because it's the first season so they had to do world building and an introduction. i don't remember very much either since i watched it like 2 years ago, but i still think about the scene where morpheus cursed the guy to always have so many ideas that he HAS to write them down and he goes insane. that was so mind blowing to me for some reason and there's been a dent in my brain dedicated to that scene from that day on.

i really liked the vibe of it in general :) i can't wait for s2 !!

hmm life has been really stressful- i have alot of exams coming up and i don't feel prepared for any. i came down with a fever today and when i got back from school i passed out for 5 hours. i feel better now though, i'm currently working on a practice analytical essay for literature :,).

also i'm unfortunately not reading anything much at the moment. i would say my current read is the tenant of wildfell hall by anna brontë, but actually i haven't been actively reading it at all. i'm sad about it but i know that i'm way too distracted to relax and read. though, after exams i'm planning to read frankenstein and dracula!! i reallyyyyy want the clothbound penguin version. the frankenstein one is so mecore lmao

i saw on your bio the other day that you're currently reading the bell jar? how is it? i can't wait to read it myself but i doubt i'll get around to it anytime soon. i know it's really popular among lana del rey fans... but i'm a little hesitant to read it because also it's really racist?? but i'm still gonna read it anyways to see the hype. what are your opinions on it? i'd love to know!

good luck on your exams and your essay for literature! I hope you won't feel too stressed when you have to take your exams.

I get being too distracted to relax and read during stressful times - tell me if you enjoy reading frankenstein and dracula so I can add them on the never ending tbr list :))

the bell jar sort of reminded me of another book (how it feels to float by helena fox) I read, except without maybe the slight racism? I'm not sure if the book felt blatantly racist but there are moments where not looking well is likened to looking Chinese and such but that's the worst of it I think. As a book itself I think it was a good read and sort of felt similar to The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger (if you haven't read it I think you should). at some point in the future I might try re-reading it since it took me longer than I usually would've.
